Well if you want a diesel, the best option would be an Audi A4 or other Audi (but not the Allroad - those are terrible) with the TDI engine (I recommend the 1.9 l over the 2.0 l) - those are pretty reliable If you want a petrol, then you can get a nice 3 series (4-5 series get a bit more expensive, especially nice ones) with the 1.8 l - those tend to be surprisingly reliable. What you should never get: - any Fiat or Alfa Romeo with the 1.9TD (the 1.9 JTD is far better and much much more reliable). The 1.9TD is simply just and awful engine, underpowered and unreliable. - Another car you should never get is the Volkswagen Touran - they are very unreliable no matter the engine variant or model year.
How to timing engine
