HURRICANE MICHAEL category 4 eye wall from east Panama City Beach, FL

- Опубликовано: 22 окт 2018
- Intercept of western eye wall with winds gusting to 130 mph in east Panama City Beach, FL, being sure to keep my Subaru Forester pointed into the wind. Winds were even stronger in areas like Callaway, FL where vehicles were rolled and clustered together. In the eastern eye wall, a catastrophic storm surge of up to 20' devastated coastal communities like Mexico Beach, FL just to the southeast of Panama City. Note the eddy/mesovortex spin by the vehicle at the beginning of this clip.
This was part of team coverage for the Accuweather Network
Now, category 3 Hurricane Willa threatens parts of the southwestern Mexico coast heading straight for southern Sinaloa Province, with the eye very near Isla Maria Madre Tuesday morning.
Reed!! The amount of courage you and partner have can't be described to anyone.
They finally updated it to a cat 5 which is what we residents already knew
Reed: Hi, I'd like to rent a car.
Rental co: What are you going to do with it?
Reed: Sit right in the middle of a hurricane.
Rental co: Would you like the extra insurance ..please?
:)
Awesome footage Reed! 👍
Cat 5! I listen to this when I’m having ptsd about it to get the sound out of my head. You truly captured this storm. I was a few blocks east from you
The winds in this video were Cat 3. According the reed, the maximum gusts the device registered was 130 mph
I was LITERALLY inside the eye of the Hurricane Michael. And I saw the eye wall. For a split second I thought the storm was over because it was so calm and even peaceful in the eye. And then just out of the blue it was complete chaos all over again. It was 2 miles short of a cat 5 when it hit us, and it was still a strong cat 3 when it hit my dad up in Georgia.
Well according to NOAA as of 4/19/19. Michael is now labeled a Cat 5 160mph at landfall. 1 of 4 in history to strike America in history.
I can't imagine being in something like that. The video alone makes me nervous!
i went through Micheal in a 20 year old mobile home i did not dream while sleeping for two weeks after.
Reed, my husband's parents wound up riding out the storm at a small park a block from their single-wide. His mom drives a huge Cadillac and she said she could feel the wind literally doing everything in its power to lift the front end and flip it right over. His father was parked right next to her in a tiny little Toyota and he reported having the same experience. They've told us each time we talk about it how surreal it was to be inside the storm, kind of like how it is to be smack dab in the middle of a tornado. They tell us that it's a miracle they're alive to tell the story to those who may be interested. His mom actually has some video footage from her cell phone that shows what they were in the middle of.
That was some crazy winds. I would have ran as fast as I could out of there. Thanks again Reed!
Lol. Sitting here wondering who in the hell would sit and yell through an entire video when they could be sitting in their car with the windows closed and we'd enjoy it just as much. Reed Timmer. Now it all makes sense, didn't notice i'd ended up at this channel. :)
At 0:47 it sounds like a creepy Halloween noise! Lol
No it was a Velociraptor.
3:25
*_Velociraptor screeches offscreen_*
Well, it's a Category 5 now with 160 mph winds.
that was one crazy storm brought back memories of Hurricane Bob up north here in 1991
The song "Rock You Like A Hurricane" comes to mind
tornadosirenlover100 quick question. how does one get interested in tornado sirens? Like what’s so fascinating about them?
this storm put a pecan tree through my bedroom and smashed my ac unit. I was also in the dead eye of it, it was bad.
People that park underneath power lines in a hurricane always get the best of footage. Usually it's of them frying, but it's still good footage.
Very good my bro reed keep up and love video and be safe bro
This is reporting. He takes you to the action.
Lord I’m glad I evacuated the day before this hit. I can’t imagine hearing this and hearing the tree that landed on my house
This is at the corner of Thomas Drive and Bristol Street in Panama City Beach.
Dang, you’re right. It said ‘east end’ and I assumed it meant in town. I thought it was the one on 11th st around where the library and health department are. Good eye.
Reed I ❤️❤️ your work
You are a God, Reed, a God! That was incredible. What happened at the end, did you get the car out ok? Looked like you were in a flood. Glad you guys are safe in all you do.
Excellent video Reed. Thank you for risking staying out in the hurricane to film this. Michael was a real bad one. I think there was a possibility that bastard was a Cat 5 when he hit on shore at Mexico Beach. Hard to fathom the damage there with just foundations left and no sign of the homes that sat on them.
Edited to add: I have watched you chase storms for years when y'all would meet at your home then take off. It's hard to believe Joel made it through all those storms, hail, and tornadoes to pass away on a cruise. He was to young and I know you felt his loss. My belated sympathy to his family, friends, and you. God bless...BE SAFE.
I wanted to go out in the storm. Im not a professional chaser but I was going to drive my Buick and park in downtown Panama City. I drove to Tallassee hoping it would hit there but it didnt. By the time I left I got there too late. What is your humble opinion about that?
I live in Panama City I went through all of this trees falling I seen power lines falling I seen a lot of things
130 mph wind speed, it looks insane, now try and imagine the winds of Uranus that can blow clouds up to 560 miles per hour (900 kilometres per hour), while Neptune's winds can reach up to 1,500 miles per hour (2,400 kilometres per hour), the fastest planetary winds detected yet in the solar system.
Keep in mind that the points in their respective atmospheres where the wind speeds are that high are relatively less dense than ours at sea level by a huge amount. I suspect that even with 560mph winds, it would be less dramatic in terms of the damage caused compared to this video.
Kinda like how the dust storms on Mars wouldn't even provide enough kinetic energy to fly a kite at 60mph with .1 the air density of Earth.
"winds of Uranus that can blow clouds up to 560 miles per hour"...
That's a hell of a fart!
@@motonegros
😨😝🤣🤣
wow thats a powerful anus
@@motonegros 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You guys are very brave!
You need a special hurricane vehicle like the tornado hunters have. Mount cameras all around the vehicle. I was afraid something big was going to fly through your car window.
I was hoping he was in a tank!
That scream is this Reed...OOOHOOO! It IS your channel! My bad, carry on sir.
A naval officer reportedly clocked the winds on our street at 178 mph. If they are calling it a five I guess. In Lynn haven it felt like a cat six .lost all my trees my roof, privacy fence, garage door. But I collected all my neighbors lawn furniture and there some of there kids bigger toys. Just glad we all survived over this way. I know we lost 37 residents in other spots. I'm still in back yard in my camper, two years later. hurricane Michael was the easy part. For me the crooks that came in the name of help were the main problem!
The only place to see sustained cat 5 winds were within one half mile of the Mexico Beach coast with the right quadrant. That’s it. Either the officer was lying or the anemometer was incorrect. Probably the latter. Cool storm either way.
The noise of that wind, sounds like a jet engine.
Should’ve brought the Dominator! Dominate some hurricanes!
Dominator dominator dominator dominator
We need to head East!!!!!
awesomeness
after that every thing is clean and shiney
No I live here. Its almost April 2019 and still looks like a bomb went off. Lots of help right after a storm but people forget fast.
it was anything but clean and shiny
More like “exfoliated”?
I’m confident that, if category 5 hurricanes left things all... “clean and shiny” in their wake, I’m sure people would not be so devastated in the aftermath...
I thought Ivan in 2004 was bad... this storm (Michael) was biblical!
I thank god I only lost part of my roof... lots of people lost so much more.
“Clean and shiny” would truly save so much time and money tho. Lol. If only...
🤷🏻♀️
Damn nature, you scury!
That is some wind! Scary!
I ranned outside to my friend house to get a cigarette during hurricane Isabel an that wind force was powerful...it look like another planet at night
be safe guys
The spirit of Michael Myers.
Who keeps screaming 😵😵
That's Reed's patented yell/scream. I've never seen footage like this though, he's got balls I'll never have reinforced vehicle or not.
Lol, everybody in Panama city I think !
It's like a tornado..
He means that those winds look like those of a tornado
Wow, traffic lights still functional in the middle of all that?
Insane
You crazy man!
That is a good gale of wind in newfoundland
I woukd totally have been on the other side of that building, behind something solid to break wind
What about hurricane Willa cat 5?
This was the absolute weirdest hurricane, it laid waste to everything in its direct path . But here's where it gets weird I live 50-60 miles from there to the east and it barely rained at all. I spent weeks over there in PC helping clear roads and cut down trees in the road. It was like a bomb went off
Are you guys CRAZY I wouldn't be cought in a car in bad weather like that
Que loco en esas condiciones...🤯😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Hurricane love you
I never see these kind of in Derry/Ireland
This is just the beginning 2019 and so forth is gonna be wild USA will never be the same everyone is gonna get trouble even cities you would never expect also here in Denver there was a mini earthquake it wasn't so strong but strong enough for us to feel
Big storm
i was in this storm it was crazy
hell you need a fully armored hummer to be out in that whether

😱😱very scary
This was a Category 5 Hurricaine
This was a 5 hraken bc I was in it... I'ma tell you how it was.... Trees and cars flying lights flicing ppl we're crying screening my dad's brother died.... And that's it

I hope there is another storm like this so I can chase it like Reed did with my Buick.
I wish I could have been there in my car.
Inside the big dirty water tunnel.
This guy is insane

Wah
That looks so much like the el reno vids I've seen. SCARY!!
He should bring the dominator right am i right?
Nossa 😲😲😲
I doubt if this was an armored car.
Wrong NOAA official cat 5 hurricane.
Reed, be honest. Cat 4? I call bullshit on NOAA. I owned a home 3 miles northeast of TAFB. Across east bay. What I saw upon returning home was no cat 4 damage. Im not talking about you or your video, Im asking why the hell do they underrate that storm?
The guy at 3:00, said were in a tornado, I thought this was a hurricane
tornadoes can develop in the outer bands of hurricanes. and sometimes inn the eye wall too
😱
Category 5
Timmer-nerves of steel. 😱
One things for sure, the next time wjhg7 says it will be a cat three two hours before it hits and we get slammed with a cat five, forget about it. If they get a 3 or what ever my happy ass is going north. Now anyone wanna buy a 3br house. Lol I'm serious.
