    Wow, palitaw! Here’s another traditional Filipino kakanin or rice cake that the whole country enjoys eating for merienda. You’ll be surprised by just how easy this sweet recipe is. It also cooks so quickly. Once the rice cakes float or “litaw” on the surface, they’re already done. Make them extra fun and colorful with a couple drops of Filipino flavorings. Ready to try this at home? Let’s start cooking #SimpolPalitaw!
    INGREDIENTS
    3 cups glutinous rice flour
    1 cup water
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons sesame seeds
    1/4 cup sugar
    buko pandan flavoring
    ube flavoring
    3 cups boiling water
    For the topping:
    1 cup shredded coconut
    1/4 cup sugar
    2 tablespoons sesame seeds

    Malaysian/Singaporean/Indonesian version is Onde-Onde. We wrap palm sugar chips in malagkit (beras pulut flour) dough into balls and cook in boiling water. Then smother with grated coconut. I will try replacing palm sugar with sesame and brown sugar chips when doing onde-onde next time.

    The title says it all.. simpol... I am going to make this after I completed my self quarantine... This is one of my favorite Filipino native merienda... 😊

    Hi Sir! I just made this recipe today! I followed the instructions step by step from the timing (toasting of sesame seeds while boiling hot water) to serving. I just made half of the recipe coz baka mapalpak ako masayang lang hehe. And I should say I did it!! My husband and son liked it and ubos agad! hehe. It's really that SIMPOL!! Thank you sir for sharing this recipe!!

    I love ❤️ it...gagawa ako nyan kapag nakabili ako ng ingredients dito.Mahirap kc dahil Dito ko sa truck nakatira...di puede dalin Kung saan saan ito.👍😍

    Binibilog po muna saka ilalagay sa palad at didiinan ng hinlalaki para oblong po ang itsura at nakalubog ang gutna...ganon po ako gumawa ng palitaw.

    This just brought me back to my childhood. This was a fixture of our weekends along with tinupig (we're Ilocanos) and ginataang bilo-bilo. Thanks for sharing. Also just watched your Adobong puti. That too was a staple of my summers with my lola in the province.
