    I really have to point out that your KiBa tutorials are way better than many paid lectures I have seen. Often skilled people lack of the ability to properly teach their knowledge or people can teach well but lack skills. you combine both - being skilled and able to teach very well.

    to get away without having to sample bass you can also disable keytracking from the synth and then automate the same parameters to find sweet spots with the kick. some manual work but less than sampling at least. and something to prevent bleeding of course

      i mean it is easier to maintain curves than samples

    Thanks for taking the time to teach us Dash. There's a nice T-shirt design at 26:40. *Glitch Kicks*

  • @alphanumeric1529
    @alphanumeric1529 Год назад +1

    At 26:10 the kick that you've made, maybe I'm misreading the spectrogram in your eq, but isn't the kick super subby, when your preamble to the video was all about removing the lower content of kicks to leave room for the bassline?
    Am I just being confused by visuals here, is that spectrogram that shows a very low and prominent sub actually representing the bass and not the kick?
    Thanks for the response if you can manage to respond to a 3 year old video, and if not, thanks generally for your channel and sharing knowledge in the way that you do. A+ mate, I'm compelled to state, against my better judgement.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Год назад

      the kick is legato and spends more time being heard and thus picks up longer on spectrums, the 2 don't co-exist that much it's more of a tonal choice which the spectrum is not great at showing I guess

    Learned a couple bitchin techniques with Kick 2... big help there. But by far the best cross reference you shared was the envelopes related to each genre. Brilliant stuff.

    That was incredibly insightful!
    This tutorial, your Bassline tutorial and a pair of incoming Ollo S4X headphones is hopefully what will save my newest track!
    I've clearly been trying to do things that are a few steps beyond my abilities, with inadequate Sub-200Hz precision at that!
    Keep up the great work! Your videos are excellent and your sounds are right on point! 👏👏👏👏👏😺

    The start point of the pitch envelope has a massive impact on the result. If you want a soft zenon kick set it to a low value 2349hz for a D or 4698hz for a full on kick. If the annoying freqs are not there from the beginning, you dont need to fiddle around with the amp envelope so much. Also have a look at what compressor attack does to the transients...

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  4 года назад +2

      Why fiddle with a compressor when you can adjust the transient in the envelope :P

    Hi Dash this is pretty cool thanks. I have a video idea if it appeals - I have been trying to make better psy kicks on the modular, just for fun - I know it's probably better done in Kick2 or whatever for Psy, but I produce for my own pleasure so getting something decent out of the hardware without too much post processing is fun just for its own sake. Learning a bit more about your thought process when you're making kicks on the modular without the same level of fine control as a VST gives you would be interesting.

  • @RodRyan-tc6cs
    @RodRyan-tc6cs 6 месяцев назад +2

    I've only just been getting into trance, and I see that for my mind there are far too many niches and do's and don'ts, it's become a minefield.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  6 месяцев назад

      Don't think of them as rules, rather guidelines. They're also there to be broken, that's what makes things unique, but it helps to know a solid starting point. Don't be discouraged!

  • @atomictraveller
    @atomictraveller 3 года назад

    i remember watching the kick drum come out of the speaker in 1988, acid house, psychic t.v.
    i spent decades on audio dsp development to proliferate the means of expression. developed a fantastic aural discrimination, developing spectral processes and discerning spectral regions. you can see my name in the industry.
    my ears don't work so well nowadays, and i have, absolutely zero interest in monitoring recordings. developed methods of synthesis others don't touch, nothing better than birds.
    i figure there are probably other things to do in this life that can also develop critical discernment and attention abilities, without leaving you with decades of unproductive and wasted time. good luck with your channel, i don't think people are going to be able to tolerate fucking recordings as a "lifestyle" for too much longer.
