Thank you so much for this video!! We’ve had 2 HVAC companies come out and couldn’t figure out why one of our heads was freezing and the other one not getting cold enough! We switched wires to the heads on the outdoor unit and it fixed the problem! Works perfect.
I have 4zone Mitsubishi mini splits, two of the zones not blowing cold air and both indoor coils freezes up sometimes. My Hvac guy came by a few times and can't figure out what's wrong, any suggestions? Thanks
Thank you so much. I just solved the problem. When I saw your video I was having problems with my new mrcool unit. The problem was due to my crossing the electrical lines that belonged to the inside unit .when I powered one of the units the line of the other unit would freeze. So when I connected the proper line to the corresponding unit the problem went away. again thanks for the info. 😎👏👏
I bought 2 split units and 1 is working perfectly and the other one was not blowing cold air but blowing air ; after a couple days I saw it had frost out a ball of ice on bottom copper line to condenser unit. Do you think my lines need to swapped out? Plz help.
First , do you have 1 or 2 outdoor units? If it's one outdoor unit turn off the one that working and turn on the that isn't. If the problem no starts at the other unit then yes you have something missed wired or missed piped ..
I’ve had issues with freezing off and on since I had installed 2 years ago. Installation was done by an electrician with the help of a hvac buddy. I’ve been trying to find someone to come out and take a look at the system but seems no one is familiar with the Pioneer brand. Any contacts you have in the St Louis Missouri area that might be able to help????
So I have a Mr Cool DIY System that’s been running fine for 3 months and just this morning the Air Handler similar to the one in your video was frozen. I defrosted it checked all the lines turned it back on but it freezing up again. Any suggestions on this
First thing I would do after all the ice was gone would be checking the charge... Check around the fittings for any oil resude.. I'm assuming the filters are clean
hi, unfortunately I haven’t cleaned my filter for 11months (first time living alone I didn’t know) so I think the freezing issue was caused by this. When I turn the fan on it’s making a weird noise, should I keep the fan to continue defrosting or just completely turn off the AC? Hope u see this, thank you
@@hvacwithdrewman98 mine does that (ice hitting the fan). Does that mean that I have wires crossed too or is something clogged? Why is it doing that? I live in an apartment and they're idiots (have never ever cleaned or serviced the minisplits and I'm going on year 2 of living here). Thanks for your help.
@@llllllllllilillii this video I have 3 indoor units on 1 outdoor unit ( condenser)... If you have something similar you could possibly have this issue... But if only 1 inside and 1 outdoor unit it could be a dirt blower wheel, dirty coil and filter.. could also have a leak and need Freon...
Try lowering the temp of both cassettes and let it run for a while and see if the lines still freeze up. If they don't it sounds like the control wires are crossed...if it still freezes up it might be low on freon... Make sure filters are clean..
Thank you for this video, I think this is my problem. The company came to replace the large coil of the outdoor unit and since then I have this problem. I have three units and one is working fine. Another does not provide air conditioning and the other produces frost. How do we find out which two units I need to reverse? Is there something wrong with the multimeter or something? the cables have no identification so I wonder what to do? thank you
Turn off the 2 that are not working and run the one that is.. at the outdoor unit the lines should be labeled A,B C.. only one of those sets of pipes should be cold/sweating. So if that set is piped to A.. I would swap the wires for B&C inside the outdoor unit.. after run on unit at a time to confirm that it’s working correctly
@@hvacwithdrewman98 Thanks for your video and tips. We still have to wait for the visit of the technician but be sure that I will be next to him during his visit. We are still under warranty and this is the reason why we hesitate to do the reversal of the wires ourselves. We have a dispute with the Carrier company because since the purchase of these units we have had several problems. Including the replacement every two-three years of the blower motors of the wall units and the big unity of the heat pump was also changed. We are told that it is normal for blower motors to be noisy after a few years, but two or three years is not much. In addition, we carry out regular maintenance and cleaning. We believe we have come across a lemon. Good day to you.
@@hvacwithdrewman98 The technician came and the problem was indeed the inversion of the wires between unit A and unit C. He took the opportunity to change a fan motor in one of the units. According to him, these engines break down every two years, becoming as noisy as a cricket. not very encouraging. Thank you again for your solution and have a nice day
Check the air filter, make sure the coil isn't frozen, shut off and inspect the blower wheel to see if and blades are broken. It's you don't see anything wrong call a ac company
The piping for head A got hooked to the B circuit at the condenser. If head A is calling for cooling the refrigerant was going to head B, and since the condensate pump was bad and shut off the unit we had no airflow causing it to freeze...

Happy to hear that.. glad the video was helpful for the problem you had
Thanks for sharing. Great valuable video!
Had the same issue here- coms crossed and unit froze up- saved my keister- thanks!!!

First thing is to check and make sure the blower is clean.. if very dirty it can’t move the air correctly and will cause it to freeze up

Your welcome, glad the video was useful.
Hey I have a dual zone mr cool I just installed. You just swapped where the indoor units were wired inside the outdoor unit and it fixed it?
I turned my senville mini split off and only ran 1. The one that was off turned into a solid block of ice. Would me not running it cause that?
If you have 2 indoor units on 1 outdoor unit you most likely have the wiring crossed in the outdoor unit... typically what I see with your issue

The noise my be from the blower wheel hitting the ice if it is frozen... I would leave it off for about an hour and try it then...

Our mini split sounds like fan or motor bout ready to go out. It makes loud noise like a fan trying to go out
