Actually the chord structure is where its element needs to fit in. Adele's melody fits in well with the Eurythmics original score, and vice versa. So long as the chord-progression falls within the same tempo, key, coda, etc... it does truly work... Hell even some of the progression fits in extremely well!

My personal fave is 'don't Bring Me Up the Wall' by E.L.O. & this lady who's name escapes me(Her song is called 'You Drive Me Up the Wall'). That tied with Pink/E.L.O.s 'I'm Comin' Up'/'Don't Bring Me Down' mash-up. VERY close behind is ABBA/ZZ Top mashing 'Gimme x3 all Your Lovin'(ABBA and ZZ Top?!?!?!). Is it me or has Adele lost weight in that slammin' jacket...?
