My 3rd great grandfather was born on a steam boat in 1812 on Lake Champlain. I believe this was even before ppl were aloud to ride as freely as in 1840.
In 1840s, many homes still using hearth fireplace cooking before the cooking stoves exists in the late 1840s or early 1850s. There are some historical houses at Greenfield Village, such as Noah Webster and Robert Frost Homes does uses hearth fireplace cooking, but whale and lard oil lamps are displayed in both of these homes at Greenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan.
Just one criticism, I do understand the importance of protecting the propriety of your material but the time stamp and I.D. number displayed on screen is very distracting and obscures parts of the video. Would it be possible to place it at the very bottom of the screen and give it a 50% transparency so that, while keeping the material protected, it is far less obtrusive and items behind the protection can be seen? Otherwise, a very enjoyable and informative video.
Here's the issue: Tens of thousands of films similar to this one have been lost forever -- destroyed -- and many others are at risk. Our company preserves these precious bits of history one film at a time. How do we afford to do that? By selling them as stock footage to documentary filmmakers and broadcasters. If we did not have a counter, we could not afford to post films like these online, and no films would be preserved. It's that simple. So we ask you to bear with the watermark and timecodes. In the past we tried many different systems including placing our timer at the bottom corner of our videos. What happened? Unscrupulous RUclips users downloaded our vids, blew them up so the timer was not visible, and re-posted them as their own content! We had to use content control to have the videos removed and shut down these channels. It's hard enough work preserving these films and posting them, without having to spend precious time dealing with policing thievery -- and not what we devoted ourselves to do. Love our channel and want to support what we do? You can help us save and post more orphaned films! @@PeriscopeFilm Yes, I understand that difficulty, but how about a compromise? Keep the ID and timestamp where it is but give it a %50 transparency? In fact, a transparency would allow you to put it even higher on the screen with less obtrusiveness. I would absolutely love to support you financially, as indeed I would many others, unfortunately I survive on an invalid pension which only just supports me from week to week. Interesting...
182 years ago oooooh
Roughly 2 decades before the American Civil War.
So is this a reniactment? If not what kind of camera did they have in 1840 that recorded like this?
They likely used one of those early VHS camcorders, naturally!!
Hi-quality sound too!
@@harryarches6285 so how are they claiming this was done? Any clue?

now we have interstate highways, public education, no slaves, civil rights, and child labor laws ... the horror
