New Earth Modeler for Blender! Fast, one click modeling using Google Maps data.
Set location and the model is imported directly into your scene.
If you've been around here for a while, you already know we've been developing for the Google Earth platform for a few years now. Notably, our Earth Studio Tools for Blender allows for 3D integration of Blender object over the rendered output of Google Earth Studio and our JavaScript KML importer for After Effects.
This project, however, has become a bit of a beast. Firstly, the incredible outreach many of you have displayed of the last month has been encouraging and humbling. As a single developer, who develops for Blender in my spare time, it has been exciting to hear from so many of you. I have also been mindful of the potential use of a product like this to the greater Blender community and have endeavored to ensure that the add-on conforms to the proper guidelines and usage defined by Google. It is, ultimately, their intellectual property we are using and their generosity that has made this a potential game changer for the 3D community.
if you have questions, the best way to ensure I see it is by commenting below. I'll do my best to answer the questions in a timely manner. Keeping in mind, I will also be developing the production version of the software, so it's a bit of a balancing act to be "social" and "get sh*t done". Thanks for you understanding.
Rob
*** NOTE ****
This is a Alpha version of the Add-on. Stay tuned here (hint: subscribe) for details on availability.
This project is currently in development and testing. Please feel free to contact us through the about page for information on contributing to this project.
Imagiscope Technology is the software developer of the Earth Modeler Add-on for Blender (not affiliated with Google, provider of the 3D photorealistic tiles)
So when can we actually use this?
This kind of tool could help even further bridge the gap between large and indie vfx artists. Giving everyone the best tools possible will just amp up the creativity in the world so much!
Never ceases to amaze me! Waiting for 2+ years now hahaha
I can’t wait, this is by far the best implementation of the 3D tiles in blender, every other “solution” has been very hacky, but this looks great.
I sent an email when you first revealed it, but just in case, I’d like to re state my excitement for beta testing if it’s available!
blosm does it decently
@@MihailBurdujait doesn't have true photogrammetry, it uses ai generated buildings
@@avfx111 It uses Google 3D Tiles, just like this, with a customisable level of detail.
@@MihailBurduja yes it does but it is limited to large scale terrain, what about buildings?
@@MihailBurduja oh wait i realised.
In the name of everyone here: thank you.
Hi Rob and Imagiscope, just sent an email to get involved in the beta! As a designer in an architecture and engineering firm, I can't wait to see how this revolutionizes the work we're doing :)
I replied via email
@@ImagiscopeTechwhere is your email
Amazing work, can't wait to test the add-on.
"Hello from France, Rob! Your plugin is a revolution; it's the tool I've been dreaming of for years. I want to use it for creating mods for automotive simulators for E-Racing events."
Imagine the real-world racetracks you can make in Assetto Corsa with this!
Hehehe, you'll love what I'm about to do when this comes out, I've been quiet after my RUclips upload-
I can't wait to use this update....
This Addon is incredible!! Thanks for sharing ;)
it seems cool, I can't wait for this realistic 3d mapping tool. the real world will become into our 3d lives.
Hi Rob, interesting development.
Greetings from the FIABCI Young Professionals.
This development is surely gonna be useful in so many projects.
Spot on with the development, I wish to be able to get involved in the development and surely wish this could be delivered sometime soon.
😮 Can’t wait for this to be available!!! Would love to have this amazing tool in my arsenal!
I can't wait to check it out!! It looks fantastic!!
Wow! You can check places before you are there. You can also plan a Tour, with points of interest. ❤
Absolut crazy. ❤
This is so beautiful
Fantastic work on this! Sent an email about becoming a beta tester, I use Blender to make videos about long-distance backpacking and am excited to see how this could aid in storytelling.
Would've liked to see more about deleting existing models and dropping in your own if possible. Like if you make a concept building can you delete everything currently in the existing location and put your own in? And how much more efficient is this compared to the other unofficial methods?
the geometry is like any other blender geometry. just tab select and delete
@@jippee1 for real i was just thinking ima just pull a devious lick and just copy paste some high res building from different hoods and mix them up and call it a new one, fck it bro raw dawg the models.
This is incredible. Atleast I have time to get up to scratch with Blender before this comes out lol
Thank you for this teasing tutorial on the possibilities of using the Earth Modeler add-on and would love to be given an opportunity of using it 🤞
exciting stuff :D this is looking great so far. very excited to keep up with the development
Hi Rob. Any news about this Earth Modeler Add-on ? Thanks !
Amazing! Well Done. I'm very excited for this project!
Amazing work.. Can’t wait to try it when it’s available 🎉😊
It looks amazing, can't wait till it's released!
So looking forward to this!🤩
Looks like a much needed addon- sign me up ;)
I’m just in such shock rn…. I was just saying on another video, I’ve been wishing this type of tech was real, so I could put my down in a video game. It’s now a reality. It’s also potential proof we live in a simulation lmao, as time goes on and technology updates further and further it’s just more and more proof lol
Hi Rob…this is amazing stuff, can’t wait to play around with it!
this is very exciting
Will you be releasing the software this year? Been teasing us for a long time now..
I noticed your post on the GES forum while researching the esp format syntax. I was surprised and slightly saddened by the low popularity of that forum. Fortunately, the video you posted last month had 380k views, maybe posting a product on RUclips will get a much more enthusiastic response than that on GES forum. All the best and your work is great!
GES is great, but it has a relatively low user base, unfortunately. Everything I have learned about Blender is because of GES and my desire to add my own visualizations to the world.
@@ImagiscopeTech Are you really a part-time developer? incredible.
I'm jealous of you, please take it as a compliment.
@@mapia-nerd how could I join that GES forum?
Part time on Google Earth/Maps. Full time media and software developer (various platforms).
This is really innovative! Thanks for this work!
When this is released, are the attribution watermarks still going to be in the corner of the video? Obviously, that would not be acceptable for actual film production.
Any comment on when this plugin will release? I am absolutely stoked!
This is insane! I really want involved the beta. Just sent message:)
Can you edit the meshes? Could you smooth down the scanned trees and add in more detailed ones, for example?
What a great addon! And great work
this is so fantastic, i would love to try it out to make some transit development concepts for my city
Well, how is it going?
Spellbinding, Rob! I'm sure there is an entire community that will be willing to work with you to get this out. I know I am. If we can help or even fund it, let us know how!
Any updates on this?
Looking forward for this tool and I would love to beta test it. This would be a great tool to add to anyone's especially indie creators workflows.
Thrilled about the possibilities and keen to be part of the beta testing as this is the kind of process my team have been looking for to use in our engineering visualisation and extended reality work. Sent you an email, thanks for developing such a great tool!
Yup, 99.9%
@@ImagiscopeTech its been 10 months where is the addon
Amazing!!
I imagine using this in a Flight Simulator software!
Please tell me this is coming soon, this would be so useful.
Is this still in development? Last video upload was 1 year ago.
I hope it gets a function that distinguishes different objects and draw their outline to be distinguished from the rest of the model so we can separate one single building for example. Please add sketchup support also
I would love to test this out, I'm running a projection festival in a small city and this would be an amazing planning and concept tool.
When will this be available?
Great work!
I use blender models from renderdoc and Google maps plugin currently for my design projects. I would love to use these models professionally.
0:13 You drove right past the site of 2 WTC. Luckily with such a city model, it may be possible to create a convincing animation of what it will look like when completed.
Yes, easily.
I can put it through the ringer for testing. I have a few subs who many are into this sort of thing (not all) . I Mod for BeamNG and make tracks. We all have been using Blender GIS and Meshroom with Google Earth. Got something to make track making easier, about 2k people may be interested. I will link this.
Yes bro ❤
OMG sign me in,I really need this to show my project in this new shocking way!
the posibilities for Assetto Corsa modding are truly almost unimaginable
checking the channel everyday to see if it gets released
Hello @ImagiscopeTech
I used to work with 3d Programs like Cinema 4d and Blender for about 10 years but I didn't find a motivation to continue. Your project brought me again here to my beloved hobby. I would love to be in your Beta-Testing group. Please hit me up on how I can join:)
Is this project still being worked on?
I’ve been using Open Street Map’s implementation of Google Earth in a project I’ve been working on but it’s a little clunky, especially if you’re trying to import a large area
I can't wait to use this on flight sims and beamng drive map making
I love your work. I've used your GES_Panel with great success. Really looking forward to working with the Earth Modeler add-on.
Can you please release this addon faster? I'll be making a game soon and I really need this addon.
same
It's great! I need this add-on for my project. How can I install it? Thank you!
Can't wait to test this :) You mentioned copyright, how does that work? Does copyright belong to google for the 3d assets, and is there a path to using it for anything other than learning?
I'd love to be able to see more updates on the progress on this. Is there a rough ETA for it yet? Been quite for a while & I can't find anywhere else to follow for updates on this other than here.
I would love to be a better testing for this addon as I am just now getting into scenery development for msfs2020.
Wow. Just wow 😲
Fabulous add-on, but when will it be available for us all to use. Will save us loads of time, so just need a time frame. Thanks for update
Wow! Let me know when available!!!
Wow this looks like a very cool tool! When is the expected date of release? And would the plugin be free?
its been almost a year since the last update, any news? I'm quite interested in using this addon. Blosm is not working as intended for my purposes. :(
As an environment/terrain modeller and having worked with locations teams in film, I'd love to be on the Beta test crew ... having walkable sets would be a huge win for some of the production teams I've worked with.
Also sent you an email. ✌
when is this coming out dude
Would LOVE to test this plugin with you guys!
Realy nice project. I have try other solution but the most important problem is the LOD. If the alpha phase is available, I would be happy to participate.
Hi Rob. Do you have any news about this Earth Modeler Add-on ? Thanks a lot !
Any more news on this? This will be great for Construction Logistics, Construction Planning and Tender Visualisation.. I cant wait to get my hands on this and would love to test it
Thank you for your excellent work. This could be a great tool for my next documentary, but I am afraid it will be too late :). Anyway, I will pay for this tool anytime it is ready.
Nice. I've been working on getting blender and google earth studio to work together for the past two months. Your work, if successful, would render my work for the past two months meaningless, but please make no mistake, I would love to see that happen.
Hi, are you using the Earth Studio Tools for Blender? And, yes, this new tool is like having GES inside Blender, but with more artistic control.
@@ImagiscopeTech Looking forward to it. The original GES support for Blender can only be said to be better than nothing, what you see is not what you get. Adding 3D animation is either guesswork, complex functions, or stealing Google Earth models from the Chrome browser -- which is unethical and illegal. At present, I rely on trigonometric functions to calculate latitude, longitude and altitude, and then use the method of modifying esp to locate the GES camera. Even so, the video still had to be rendered twice in Blender. I even wrote a Python script for this to take care of the tedious work of double rendering. I've noticed your work before and was really looking forward to this bringing art back to art instead of math + manual labor.
So, how do I get on the alpha testing waitlist? I'm really looking forward to it.
Ah, I am searching for this kind of animation and just got my hands on both ES to work with blender and now the Modeler to be released. I haven't started learning the ES, but I understand from your experience the last 2 months, you are looking for a better experience and quality with this new Modele correct?. I am not rushing to start using either, but do you think I shouldn't waste my time getting familar with ES plugin and better spend my time with something else till the Modeler comes out?
@@jeanm7115 I would never give advice like "shouldn't waste my time getting familiar with ES plugin and better spend my time with something else till the Modeler comes out".
I would like to share two experiences with everyone:
1. GES is so easy to learn, so it is much better for you to spend half an hour watching the tutorial than to seek experience from others. This is a toy-level software, and the real threshold is on AE or Blender.
2. Even with a powerful add-on, the experience under the old operating system is still meaningful. I'm excited for Imagiscope Tech's new add-on, but I also know that Rome wasn't built in a day. I wouldn't ask an enthusiastic individual developer to save the world in a beta version, especially considering how much time and money GES spent and never made it.
@@jeanm7115 he said in a comment that the code is almost ready and to expect the the stable version to be released few weeks from now
Can you do Georgetown Guyana because thats where i live and im really hoping and waiting for the avalability of this addon can't wait
Anymore recent updates ?
Absolutely amazing, i can't wait to see and use this when it's done.
(I unfortunately don't have time to be a tester.)
great news thanks for the update
Emailed you! I hope I can beta test it out with some of architecture work!
Hi Rob, hello to the Imagiscope team.
Wow, that's a great new video! I've renewed my great interest in the Earth Modeler module for Blender. I'm counting the days to use it for my urban projects.
I'm a 3D modeller for my city's urban department, so I can see lots of uses for this tool. I'd be delighted to help you with practical examples. I'll send you an email. Well done and keep up the good work.
Hi Rob, do you plan to develop the possibility to extract from apple map also?
You are the boss Rob !! Can wait to test it and reproduce the track of a plane in Blender using this new tool.
You told us last month that it was not sure if it could be free or not, due to the use of map data under copyright. Do you already know if it will be free or not ? If not, an idea of the cost ?
Thanks again for your hard work and for your amazing innovation !!
It's still unclear on my end. I'll let you know.
@@ImagiscopeTech when will the beta testing phase commence?
Been emailing and trying to be part of the program. I work and have worked in entertainment fo rover 10 years and would love to test this for an upcoming project.
I’m in Art Director in the film industry. Ive worked on shows like Ghostbusters and inception. I’ve been looking for a solution like this for years. Can’t wait to try it out. Would love to beta test if possible.
RIP . Google probably pull the plug when they heard about it.
Bit of a long reach but any timeline on when the next information may be coming? I would love to have a play around for my hobby project! can't wait for this to come out
Wow. Just wow.
Mind blown 🤯
what was the "CCM with 3d Tiles" download that you mentioned exists for unity and unreal? How do I find that on the unity asset store?
Cesium
Another thing that came to mind is that as google collates annual street maps. Will we be at some point able to render 3d maps based on a certain year?
I'm wondering: can the Google Earth data imported into Blender then be exported from Blender as a Collada or FBX or OBJ file, in order to be opened with other 3D softwares?
Hi, I’d love to learn about use cases for this tool in TV and film. It would be wonderful to be included in the expanded beta testing! Thanks for sharing the information.
i wanna see these maps exported to uE5, converted to nanites as traversable terrains for video games. this and AI driven NPCs concoct interesting opportunities for gaming experiences.
the one thing about this is that lighting is baked into the textures - so relighting becomes and issue - are their any delighting techniques that you have? There are more advanced delighting techniques for photogrammetry but I am not sure for use in this case
Hello, By any chance you can buzz me once this add-ons comes online please. Badly need it. Thank you so much.
hi, nice project here ! i would love to test this addon as soon as possible, thx
