- In this video I'm gonna show you one of my favorite places close to St Petersburg - Gatchina. There's a huge palace there that was built in the 18th century and was a summer residence of Russian tzars. It was badly damaged during WWII and then restored.
I'll tell you about the history of this fascinating place and give you a tour around the palace and park :) Enjoy!

@@elenastravels I have been to St. Petersburg 3 times. I would have been there last year but of course the pandemic prevented my travels. Hopefully again in 2022!!
Well presented. Really nice.

Yes, it's one of my favorite parks! And I've showed only a small part of it in the video :)
Thank you very much Elena. You made a very good and informative video about Gatchina. I become interested of Ingria about 10 years ago and I have red a lot of the people who lived there. In Ingria population was mainly finnish, but "Hatsina" become very international town.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing :) Glad you liked the video!
I greatly appreciate you shating you time with me at the same tme as you were recording the programme .
I hope to see you again on your adventures. I hope to see you soon,Elena ,all the best, see you soon ,Denny
I got emotional watching this. My ex-wife is from Gatchina and we spent a lot of time there and in SP. We would also take lunch with us to that palace park and walked a lot in the downtown. It was a romantic time I wish I could re-live. I would like to return one day. Thank you for this great video! ❤️
I'm sure you can come back here in the future if you'd like and create new happy memories ❤️
Fantastic place Elena. I didn't know this city nearby Saint Petersburg, the park, the castle were really marvelous. Thanks for to see us those places.
It's not the most popular place among tourists :) Thank you!

@@elenastravels well, I do the same thing when you will load next videos. I follow you on Instagram too
Hi from Melbourne, Australia. It is so different here!
Hey! :) Of course, Australia is like another planet :)
@@elenastravels Exactly (Mars in fact)
@@auscomvic9900 why Mars? :D
@@elenastravels Most of Australia is red desert. And the culture is so young that we in the cities feel like fringe dwellers; under threat from the awesome inland. (Like in Mad Max)
A beautiful location but my goodness it looks cold! Thanks for the tour.
Yes, that's why you always need to bring warm clothes when you travel to St Petersburg :D
Your videos are always well made! So informative and personal. Keep it up!
Thank you so much :) I'll try!
St Petersburg is one place that doesn’t disappoint it vastly exceeded my expectations but I felt I knew it before I arrived having studied so much Russian history🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️
It is a magical city indeed ❤️
Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. I have only been to SPB once. But, it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world, in my opinion. Please create more videos soon, Elena :0)
I agree that it's one of the most beautiful cities! I'll try :D
Great stuff. I didn't know about the summer palace, this looks really interesting and I think a visit one day would be good. Thanks Elena.
Thank you! There are many palaces like that around St Petersburg! Each one is unique :)
My scroll wheel is so sensitive. Opened a post on it's own. Luckly one of yours, or the mouse risked getting tossed. Your Holidays Be Bright Young Lady Elena. Listening and typing so now I restart the post. A peak of cool funiture was only thing I saw so far. Beautiful there from the attention of the people.
Many thanks for a quick glimse of that histoty, Elena Denny,Fernando UK
What a great day out. Such a beautiful place. It made me feel like a Tsar for 10 minutes. Great video. Thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, there's a special atmosphere there that makes you feel like a tzar :) Thank you!
Great video👍 I am fascinated with the Russian culture and architecture. Thank you for your great work💪
Glad to hear it! :) You're welcome!
Loving these videos. Большое спасибо! (I think that means thank you very much, hopefully I used the right phrase!)
Yes, the phrase is right! :D Пожалуйста!
Very interesting, please bring us more from your visit to St Petersburg!
I will! Thank you :)
Thanks, liked your video, don't know how I missed it before, and I watched your president's brilliant speech from Valdai. It will no doubt go down as a historic moment for our times. Most people think it was on par with the best in history. ....For you however it is the Chinese curse "to live in interesting times." Being young you will feel like it's a conspiracy to bottle you up and frustrate. Being old it's like I will never get to see the rest of Russia (except through your lens).
2:08 I love ur vloggs , u are a real beauty and ur voice is so calm and friendly. Keep on 😊
Thank you :)
Well-done! You have made another excellent, informative, entertaining video. I wish I could give it more than one thumbs-up.
How did you get the photos of the interior of the 'funny house'? What did you order for lunch?
Keep up the good wqrk!
Thank you so much! :))
Those photos are from the Internet. And for lunch I ordered Georgian food - it's always a good choice :D
@@elenastravels I just viewed this again. A very informative video. Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed it! 🤗
Прекрасное видео, надо посетить это историческое место и прогуляться по парку.
Спасибо! Надо обязательно :)
Another great video. Spasiba.
Thank you :)
St Petersburg is my favourite city in Russia... okay I have only been to two. But it is also one of my favourite cities in the world. I spent a week there seeing different things every day. I could of spent more there as the hermitage is so b i g. I worked at the V&A at the time so was good to see the similarities. Also I liked Peter & Paul fortress, the Aurora (ship) and the artillery museum. Well I was in the army and I like all the military stuff... That Palace looks great though two hour round trip... The birds are the same ones I see here in London.
Ahh I lived in StP for 8 years and still felt that there are so many undiscovered places in that city! Every stone has a history there, and sometimes when you take a wrong turning you might end up in some exciting place you've never been to before!
I think St Petersburg is the best place in Russia for those who are into art :) And I agree that it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
If you like military stuff, you can check out Kronstadt next time!
Your are so beautiful walking through the park there is a lot of art in St. Petersburg
Thank you :)
Love it
Thank you ;)
Я люблю русскую литературу и русскую культуру. Я думаю очень хорошо твое видео 👍🇹🇷🇷🇺😊
