Nice to see you working on a CB again and it looks like a similar arrangement to the 21 LTD as I used the alignment instructions for the 25 in my recent CB video. My set was also a bit deaf compared to other radios in my collection. Be interesting to see how you do the alignment proper and the TX mixer stage I had trouble with the test points hope you can show that. Thanks Regards Chris
AllTheGearNoIdea - I recorded that footage back in January, I needed a filler video so chose that one, although I haven’t actually done any more work on the radio since then, it’s still sitting on my desk.
AllTheGearNoIdea Ahh the uniden lazy meter effect, all unidens of that era seem deaf, but i think they run the i.f strip at a lower level. You can usually hear people even when the meter only just moves. Later uniden uniace 200 (my favorite) also seem lazy. And cybernet are the opposite, lots of needle movement but they don't appear to hear more than the unidens.
I have a 29 LTD classic, has problem receiving. Can transmit (barely, not clear) to a friend’s house a mile away, but can’t hear anything in response. Any ideas?
Ahh the uniden chassis, yes it's the classic but not much difference from the older versions. The r.f p.a heatsink seems to be identical in most 40 channel uniden radios of that variety. Good old units, and the typical uniden meter always locks up, even without a h2O drench lol. I have noticed that all uniden radios of that era seem lazy on receive, im sure they run the i.f strip at a lower level than most radios. You can hear someone fine but the meter hardly moves, lazy sod lol. I like the uniden uniace 200 or audioline 341, still lazy buggers but reliable :-D
Nice to see a can repair video again, one of these days I've got to get my 148 tuned and aligned.

probably an antenna system problem, try it with another radio.
Have you met Toby Hendy? We love smart NZ.
