There was a real life Jed Clampett. He wasn't a hillbilly, and he didn't discover oil on his property while hunting for food with his faithful hound. He was a cattle farmer living in the north of Western Australia and one day back in the early 1960s, he and another man were checking on the cattle from a light aircraft. In the course of doing that, he remarked to the other man that the ground below was the reddest earth he'd ever seen and with an interest in prospecting and rocks, he went back by vehicle to have a closer look at it. His name was Lang Hancock and what he discovered was the world's largest deposit of iron ore, on his land. The company he founded, Hammersley Iron, now runs 50 trains per day each carrying around 25,000 tons of ore.
My ex’s mother’s best friend who had moved to California from Canada was a next door neighbour years and years ago to Irene Ryan (Granny) and said she was the nicest person ever. I also believe the mansion was not demolished.after the show. Other stories abound and it was extensively remodelled as well as neighbouring estates were added to the overall property.
I did some Iron Works across the street and was able to get the contractor to get me inside. I was welcomed and took a tour during lunch. Hardly say a thing since I only had 30 minutes. Never got to the cement pond but I did see the Gazebo. What a beautiful mansion with two stairs on each side of the entrance with Marble steps and flooring. It was pristine. It would take a better part of a day to see it all. It''s on a huge property.
@@HooDatDonDar 80's I was inside of the original home as it is today. It's huge and you'd need a fish eye camera to see both stairs. What you saw in the series was half of the entryway. They are identical with marble steps. The pond is not outside the back door. It's down the way with a Gazebo next to it. The grounds are massive. It's still there intact. It was too large to see it all on my 1/2 hour lunch and I was working across the street.
I like how they brought the three shows together, The Beverley Hillbillies, Green Acres and Petty Coat Junction. Sam Drucker was the most common thread that stitched them together.
'Petticoat Junction' was a spinoff from 'The Beverly Hillbillies'. 'Green Acres' was a spinoff from 'Petticoat Junction', so they were never separated. Just like 'Mork and Mindy' was spun off from 'Happy Days'.

The Beverly Hillbillies was based on Jackson Barnett (died 1934) who lived at 644 S. Rossmore, Los Angeles. He was an illiterate slow Creek Indian who became wealthy when oil was discovered on his land allotment in Oklahoma. In the early 1920s he moved to California first moving into a house on 1410 Norman Way W, Santa Monica and a year or two later moving into a "mansion" at 644 S. Rossmore where it joins Wilshire. Where did FV get their info about the house being turn down? The producers must have been under the influence of LSD, a controlling substance popular back in the days of the show.
According to Google, the mansion was destroyed in the 1980's with another building built but was sold before being finished. A little research prevents alternative facts.
The rebuilt version looks very similar to the original, but a lot bigger. I really loved the old mansion and always wanted to see it, but never got a chance. Today, they have changed the entrance and you can't even see it from the road. : )

That's weird to buy a mansion at an inflated price just to tear it down.
There is a lot of fiction in this video. The mansion was never torn down and remains one of the most valuable homes in the USA. You can see an areal view of it on Google maps.
The Beverly Hillbillies was a radio show of music in the early 1930's. Did the owners of the name reach a settlement with the owners of the TV show or was it another of the not allowed to tell deals?
How about a link to this OTR show? I've never heard of it and I've collected OTR since the '80s.
@@michaelterrell I Have never found their radio shows on OTR but I have two CD's that have been put out by British Archives, CD 022 and CD 147. The program originated in 1930 on radio station KMPC Los Angeles.
@@fredisenor64 KMPC did some strange things back then. BTW, the radio station used in the first episode of 'The Outer Limits' was supposedly their transmitter site.
Where did FV get their info about the house being turn down? The producers must have been under the influence of LSD, a controlling substance popular back in the days of the show.
Only the first two seasons are in the public domain. The rest are still copyrighted.
Thanks for watching!
Nice comment 😍🥰♥️
Hello beautiful 😍
Hope you’re doing good today??
Irene Ryan died in 1973, two years after the ahiw ended. Bubwaa overseas at the time in 7th grade abd was devastated by the news.
I say the mansion still stands today. The view however on the mansion is taken away because of an altered driveway.
I loved the Beverly hillbillies
According to Google, the mansion was destroyed in the 1980's with another building built but was sold before being finished. A little research prevents alternative facts.
Some outbuildings were torn down. Main manse was kept, and redone inside.
That's a shame they demolished the original mansion
The rebuilt version looks very similar to the original, but a lot bigger. I really loved the old mansion and always wanted to see it, but never got a chance. Today, they have changed the entrance and you can't even see it from the road. : )
Not to worry, the video poster got it wrong. The house was just extensively, remodeled to the crap you see today.
Was surprised it was demolished ; wow it Looks so NICE Looking now
Our thoughts exactly, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
I was most surprised that the mansion got demolished
It’s still there. I live a mile from it. Don’t believe anything on the internet unless from a reliable source.
That story of the mansion being razed is NOT true! It was sold for $150M in 2019. Still standing.
I have to say the movie that was made 30 years later to me was a slap in the face I think it was created by the critics
In reality, Christian Ebsen only had two million dollars which is still pretty good.
it changed over the Corse of the show, it was 100 million by the end
