Sad to say that Mr. Pugliano passed away last week. He was overjoyed when he learned that someone had posted this video and made mention of it on his radio show. He will be missed.
I bought several tapes by Sam Pugliano and I was playing a tape up here one time and I 60 and 16-year-old girlfriend came up here with her boyfriend and she like that song so much roses in the valley I told her well let’s get on the phone and call him I’m sure he’d like to hear that and we talk to him and when we got off the phone she said I can’t believe I just talked to the guy who made that song and I told her I said we’re more or less a fraternal organization and we do talk to our fans thanks again Sam you’re sadly missed I will probably play one of your tapes tonight thank you for all the years of great music also spoke to her to his granddaughter
and he went off to war (it is about time of WW1, when the AustroHungarian empire had a military service of 7 years) thats why he says that they would meet in about 7 long years... Its a Slovvenian national song...
I remember Sam's father playing the concertina in Glascola - Sam and I went from grade school through high school - always a friend - he gave me his chocolate milk in grade school every day since he did not care for chocolate milk - three cents a half pint
