      when foreigners want to do mineral business with different individual in the governments of africa, they create a story like this one, soon m16 will be there pretending to categorizing that place for scientific research,but its a done deal, the population is blinded and all the resources are gone

    Great job! I knew about Oklo, but I was short on details. Now I know more! Your video made me think of a slogan: Nuclear power, as natural as power from the wind and sun.

    • @OsamaBaig

      That's a wonderful Slogan Stephen! I'm happy you enjoyed learning more about Oklo. I came across this story when I was in high school, but truly understood how this natural nuclear reactor worked after I finished my undergrad in Nuclear Engineering. I'm excited to share this overview!

    This is so interesting!
    I've been reading Atomic Accidents which offers many stories about how fickle fission reactions can be. Do you have any videos about that sort of thing? It went a long way in changing my personal feelings about nuclear energy for the better.

  • @OsamaBaig

    I find is fascinating how natural nuclear reactors were able to safely contain fission products and are extensively studied by Scientists/Engineers to understand nuclear waste migration. This goes to show that Mother Nature was the first nuclear engineer and that proven solutions (inspired by nature) do indeed exist for Nuclear waste

    You channel is awesome! Do you know, where the neutros to start/sustain the reaction came from?

    • @OsamaBaig
      @OsamaBaig  2 года назад

      Glad you like the channel Marc! Neutrons that start up a Nuclear fission reactor like PWR's come from isotopes like Cf 252. Since electricity generation requires these reactors to reach criticality as soon as possible (within limits) a isotope is required. However, When it comes to natural nuclear reactors, they can simply start the reaction with neutrons coming from U235 which is sending out neutrons regularly.

    2:30 Water doesn't "start" the reaction, a "spark plug" isotope does that, such as Cf-252

    • @OsamaBaig
      @OsamaBaig  3 года назад

      That's interesting, would this also be the case at Oklo? Or this this isotope from PWR's?

    Thanks for sharing. You have a great deal of knowledge about nuclear fission.
    I share your knowledge and feelings on nuclear power generation. Sadly they came about from the necessity of reprocessing Pu 239.

    You sure this was natural? Is the fission still happening?

    • @OsamaBaig
      @OsamaBaig  2 года назад +1

      Positive Namey. Fission can't take place naturally anymore (or least not in regular water), since there isn't enough U235 isotope in natural Uranium to facilitate that. 2 Billion years ago, there was enough U235 for fission to take place, its decayed to 0.711% , whereas Nuclear reactors need at least %3-5 U235 to fission. Thanks Namey
