His nickname wasn’t Peanuts, it was Pender. I knew him from the day I was born until the day he died. I saw this buck my entire childhood when it hung on his living room wall in the old house they lived in. We didn’t realize as kids back then how special it was.
This is the deer that my dad killed back in 1958 amouth later I was born .I am his baby daughter Theresa walker cook. My dad was so proud of this deer he use to tell me the story about it all the time and he made sure to tell all 7 of his children to never touch it. I'm so proud and happy to see it hanging in Bass pro in denham springs where it can seen by many people. I only wish I had it hanging in my home as well.
I had trail pictures of a blacktail buck that looked just like this, except there was no gap between his horns, looked like he was wearing a helmet of points, he never shed his velvet and I never seen him alive in person. But he was a sight to see
We seen a big old 2 point black tail in western Washington during rifle season, me and my cousin both shot at the same time, the base's of his antlers were grown together, sure was a big deer
I don't think the record books should rely solely on the number of antler inches. Some bucks are killed illegally, or maybe not quite "fair chase". Baiting deer should not be allowed. They become almost domesticated pretty quickly when fed regularly. I usually hunt on the ground, on public land, with tons of pressure. Many deer don't have the chance to get big around here. My 12 pt. Is my favorite rack, because it took a lot of work to get him. The people who cheat don't get as much out of hunting as I do, I think.
The state Louisiana record was killed in the 30s or 40s ! Typical that is . Maybe your referring to the JAMES MCMURRAY BUCK THE state record nontypical
