Thanks for posting this: I travelled on the Dinky once, ten years ago, and I hadn't realised the line had been shortened at the Princeton end since then. It's interesting to see the line in action again, and the new station building. It turns out that the "Dinky Bar and Kitchen" (around 5:40) is actually the old station building.

Yeah you play classy music. I like that piano music at the beginning. At the end the Gordon Lightfoot song was a nice touch.

The Princeton Junction train station is nice. I like the vicinity of it. And the dinky railroad that takes people to and from Princeton Junction train station is awesome! It's really cool! 😎

The original Princeton train station opened in 1865 was at the foot of Blair Arch steps. It moved down south in 1917 where Dinky Bar (the actual site of the train depot) is now due to the campus expansion needs. It then moved further south to the current location next to WaWa in 2014 to make way for the Lewis Arts complex.

I am sure you felt right at home with a Wawa right there at the station... The cars to Princeton look like they are old SEPTA rejects.

The other cool thing is that right across the street from the Princeton station is a golf course. So, even if you wanted to live in Princeton and take the shuttle to the northeast corridor, you'd have to drive a car anyway to get to the Princeton station. The golf course takes up what would otherwise be prime TOD space. Thanks, rich people!

Why do they need to completely overhaul the service? Just get a newer train. That thing looks 70 years old.

Princeton station is not particularly conveniently located to serve the city - even a large part of the university campus if far away from the station. Converting the rail line to a busway would bring people all the way to their destinations and also provide more frequent service between Princeton station and Princeton Junction station.

Did you really take Amtrak from Princeton Jct to Philly on the way home, or NJ Transit from Princeton Jct to Trenton, then Amtrak from Trenton to Philly? I only ask cuz, last I checked, very few Amtrak trains service Princeton Jct. Im even unpleasantly surprised at how few serve New Brunswick

Get on a train from NYC or Philly. Get off at Princeton Junction. Take the dinky to Princeton. Buy & eat a sandwich for lunch. Take the dinky back to Princeton Junction. Take train home.
