First time you did a microscope review on ramen you stated that they were fine just oil..How do you feel now that other people are doing them and finding mites in them?

It all depends how you store/process the food. Assuming that these videos are indeed authentic. You can find all sorts of things on food. Contaminants on food are a sign of improper processing and manufacture and storage. Every person eats several hundred grams of insects every year, without knowing it. I am not really worried about the mites as such (they are digested by the acid of our stomach when we eat them). I am more concerned about pesticides in food, and other harmful substances.

I'm interested in getting a new microscope, something a little higher end than what I currently have (Swift SW380T) but nothing crazy expensive, yet. If someone could give me a place to start looking for options, it would be much appreciated.

You might want to check the company Euromex. But before you buy something, be clear what you expect from the microscope.

@@Microbehunter thank you! I'm not sure what precisely I want from a new microscope yet, so I will be sure to shop around with careful consideration.

I, like a lot of people I guess, assumed that this was the whole insect. I thought that the long part looked great for trapping pollen, but the rest of its 'body' seemed so small, and no wings!
Brilliant slide though. 100 years old, and as scientifically viable as the day it was made.
