  • In this Video I go over how to setup Outrun 2 for 2-players on 2 networked computers.
I also go over how I've scripted this process. If you want to skip a lot of the setup and just use my scripts you can find them here:
    drive.google.c...
Be sure to extract the zip file's contents into your Teknoparrot folder.
Then open each of the 3 included AHK files in notepad and change the user name (user) found in the FileCopyDir line to your Desktop's user name.
You will still need to network your 2 computers and put that network information into the Game Settings for Outrun 2 in Teknoparrot. But these AHK files will let you skip going into the game's test menu and setting Cabinet ID's
These AHK files will also allow you to easily launch a 1-player game of Outrun 2
    Happy Racing!
If you want to see how to setup other multiplayer racing games, let me know in the comments below!

A few folks have contacted me to let me know that the test button toggle in their TeknoParrot does get them into their outrun 2 test menu.
This is great! and if it works for you, you should definitely get in this way as it’s easier. But for anyone who ever has trouble getting into the test menu, changing the executable like I show in the video will always get you there.

Brad, this is fantastic. So many people are searching for how to's on setting up head to head for Teknoparrot racing games. You should literally do every game and I think your channel will grow big time. Might also be an idea to do a video going into more detail on the actual hardware/networking setup (or LAN setup) if needed (even some games on Steam have LAN options.
Not sure why there is such a lack of videos on the setup process for multiplayer racers on Teknoparrot but other PC racers as well. (Assetto Corsa as an example)
I was already a subscriber so I saw this right away. I have your Buy Stuff Daytona cab (actually got the first one because I live reasonably close tom buy Stuff) and I'll have a matching cab this month. As you are aware it's fantastic. Love the Teknoparrot stuff and my fave PC racer is Assetto Corsa using all the mods.
Great job again on the video and I look forward to more soon.
Maybe we can try racing some day down the road. 😎

Hey Brad. I love your videos. You’re still the reason I got my Pedestal Gun Cab working so well with the FFB in most games. You go over things and topics that others don’t, so thanks. I wish I could show you a picture of it!
Like somebody else said, any chance you can make a video of networking 2 PCs? I’m good with the arcade stuff, but no clue on networking and like the other person said, there just aren’t any good tutorial videos on this. Would love your recommendation on what router to buy or anything else that needs to be purchased.
I was hoping Kongsrus would do his tutorial but he never did.
    I can’t wait to play 2 player Outrun 2

Whoa, this is my kids favorite game to play head to head but I totally don’t remember having to do that exe swap to get to the test menu….I wonder if I managed to do it some other way or did that and forgot about it….anyways, nice setup! Now I want to try that option about car select in Vs mode…

But for now I leave the 2-player mode set to fixed car

Great video! Thank you! do you suggest to run both pcs to a router or run a reverse networking cable between then. I've been trying to figure out how to connect my 2 racing pc setup and dont even have that part figured out yet because I find conflicting info in my searches.

    • @Brad-D

Crossover cables kinda suck, I would recommend a router if you have one laying around, otherwise just get a cheap switch.
Either way, just set your static IP’s addresses on each PC

Can you share that 2 player thumbnail you use for 2 player for launchbox? I know you've also got another video doing 3 player, if you are able to make a 3 player and 4 player thumbnail my plan is to get 4 buy stuff arcade cabs so I'm going to be setting this up at some point.

Finally got it working! Thank you! However, when it play outrun 2 or Daytona 3 it will crash the internet on all the other devices. This doesn’t happen with dirty drivin or grid so it’s really odd . Any help would be appreciated

      crash the internet?
You mean the other PC's on the local network loose internet connectivity?

go into the test menu on each and make sure the Total machines and group are set correctly on both.
      Player 1 should read:
      Link ID 1
      Total Machine 2
      Group 1
      Player 2 should read:
      Link ID 2
      Total Machine 2
      Group 1

Off topic, but have you tried Project Cars 2 in VR with a wheel? I can’t go back to flat screen racing (minus arcade titles) after the world of VR racing. A couple of us will do an online multiplayer room and it’s a blast.

@@Brad-D PC2 and Dirt 2.0 PC are highly acclaimed for the pc Vr racing experience out of the box. Assetto Corsa is my main VR racer but mods are required to get the visuals updated, but once that’s sorted it’s an endless sandbox of cars and tracks if you’re into that.

      @@SB-tp3yw yes BUT:
You would need a crossover cable (not a “regular” straight through ethernet cable) in order to go directly from one computer to the other.
And performance might not be as good as a connection through a switch (but the performance hit may not be noticeable)
