Surfed with him at Asu in 04. What a treat. I'm a nothing nobody and he genuinely engaged in plenty of banter and laughs. And ripped the absolute bag outta it. Legend.

Oh my god😭crying my eyes out having watched this. What a lovely tribute to a great guy. I didn't know he had passed away. I used to surf here in Portugal & once in Hawaii but a very long time ago.
When I was into surfing in my younger years I used to watch old vhs tapes of Andy & Bruce, Sonny, Occy....fuck. This has crushed me. 32... jesus. Rest in Surfing Peace Legend. 🏄🏼♂️

I m a bodyboarder and in general i dont like surfing... But i love andy irons, and to me, this is only way to ride a surfing board like him in power and style... Amazing andy. Every year, the day before of my november birthday, i still remember him... In my memory forever. 🤙🤙😎😎

Raw Irons..... bought three copies on VHS..... wore the first two out.... loved that film. When Dustin Barca said “everything, I miss everything about him” .......I felt that.
Tour is kinda boring without him. Shame he couldn't overcome his demons.
@Paulo Eclectik He suffered from Bi-Polar disorder for MANY years, and he and Bruce began a life with Opioid Addiction in 2005, after he was robbed of his 4th Straight World Championship...he died of heart failure after suffering from opioid withdrawals at a meet in Puerto Rico in August of 2010. He made it to Dallas on a nites layover because he was to dopesick to continue on without a break. He passed away in his sleep. Stay off opioids damnit...
Shame is a lame word that I wouldn't put on anyone. It is a shame that he's not here but I think he fought a lifetime of overcoming his demons! It doesn't matter what our lives look like, if we aren't connected to truth, we'll suffer! To me, he looked like he had the perfect life but that's me. He fought his demons everyday I think. I definitely agree with you though! The tour is boring without him! RIP AI!

Till this day it is still one of the sickest drops ever.. Maybe only kai lenny came close with his huge airdrop at jaws. To try and be a winner, people will do many things and make sacrifices. To be a winner and try and win, has so many more tangents and amplifies the pressures. At the end of the day, the sadness can be overshadowed by his surfing, so it's that greatness that will shine through and live forever.
Drugs destroy lives, I loved him as a surfer as most do. The lack of respect he had for other surfers was something that was not cool. I live in Cocoa Beach so I am a natural fan of our Kelly Slater and Kelly was disrespected so much by Andy. I just did not like that at the time.
Amazing talent, just music in motion. Deepest sympathies to his wife and family. Tragic tragic loss.

I see these types of substance abuse stories and wonder why anyone would ever want to support the lifestyles of drug dealers/drug companies/government. I dislike dealers filling the streets with poison. Keep it real and grow your own.
