    As you know,
    Work = force × displacement
    Here, boy has to lift a mass of 5 kg upwards with a force which is equal to its weight (mg )
    F = mg = 5 Kg × 10 m/s^2 = 50 N
    But, he displaces it to height of 150 cm = 1.5 m
    Hence , W = 50 N × 1.5 m
    = 75 Joule
    work done:
    work is said to be done when a force F acts on an object and object moves through a distance or there is displacement in the direction of the force.
    i.e work done =F×S
    work done can be zero when any of these things happen:-
    1.) when the force applied is zero.
    2.) when displacement is zero.
    3.) if cos is 90° then work done is zero .
    w=FScos
    work is a scalar quantity, it has only magnitude not direction.

    1) Force= 5N
    Displacement=150 cm = 1.5 m
    Work= Force x Displacement
    =7.5 J/ Nm
    2) Work done is 0 when the angle between the for and the displacement is 90 degrees.
    3) Work is a scalar quantity because it doesn't have distance but only magnitude.

      If I'm not mistaken,
      you can't change KG to N. Since the given is 5 kg, you will convert it to N, where N=((kg)(m)/(s^2). And F=mg. Where you will use the gravity in this situation.
      W=Fd
      F=mg
      F=(5kg)(-9.81m/s^2)
      F=49.05N
      Substitute,
      W=(-49.05N)(1.5m)
      W=-73.575Nm or -73.575J

    • @kjkj841
      @kjkj841 3 года назад

      @@brenzkimseysabado1675 I do not believe the work done by the boy is a negative value since the boy lifted the book in the direction of the displacement. The work done by gravity would be negative since it is opposite of displacement. Have to be careful to know who, or what is doing the work. Yes, gravity is doing work in this problem yet that is not what was asked.

    (Answer of Q1) The minimum force applied by the boy is the weight of the box.
    Weight=mass X gravity
    =(5 X 9.8)N=49N
    As the force and displacement are in the same direction,we can use the formula
    Work=force X displacement
    =49N X 150cm
    =49N X 1.5m=73.5J
    (Answer of Q2) Under the following conditions, work done is zero ----
    1) When the force applied is zero, the work done is also zero.
    2) When the displacement is zero, the work done is zero.
    3) When the angle between the force and displacement is 90 degrees, work done is zero.
    (Answer of Q3) Work is a scalar quantity.

    • @ManochaAcademy
      @ManochaAcademy  6 лет назад +20

      That's a great question! Yes the work done is zero due to zero displacement. But the body is doing work against the force of friction of ground. Which gets dissipated as heat energy. Plus work is being done at a muscular level. Here again some of the energy is dissipated as heat. So if we take into account these work dones and energy changes, that's where our body's energy is going. So we feel tired. Hope that helps :)
