The large file set I bought at walmart by hyper tough I's a 5 piece large file set and is 9.00 a set walmart I also have the small micro files from hyper tough there 4.00 a set at walmart little bit cheaper then harbor freight
Thanks. I was wondering if the files from HF were any good, they sound like they are fine for occasional home use. I did read about the handles coming off, but like you said a couple drops of CA glue in the handle should work.
Not sure why this comes up in my feed. If you use files intermittedly, once in a while, how can you distinguish a good file from a poorly made file? I use files daily for material removal and finish work. We're actually in a bad spot as files go, since most of what's out there is absolute garbage. It's been like this for about a decade. The files in the video are a perfect example. Pferd, Bahco, and NOS Nicholson are essentially the only decent reasonably priced options. About $10-$15 per file. That's relatively inexpensive. You want to use garbage and save a few bucks, it's up to you. There's a lot to be said about files - it's a complicated topic. If you're interested and read up on it a bit, end up understanding how files work in a given size and cut, you may only need a few files. That's not a lot of money. All depends on what's important to you. Heh, I'm looking at my file rack as I type this. Good luck.
"Very adequate" is a good way to describe HF stuff. It's "good enough" for the homegamer and it's cheap. I get a bit tired of people complaining about HF. OK, if you need something you can beat on every day just go and buy something three times as much. Your choice.
Everybody complains about HF but they all shop there also..........LOL Some things you probably should not buy because they just are not good or maybe will not last but a few times but like you said if you are a DIY or hobbyist then you really can save money and they things will work and when I can I show how you can modify them to make them better............thanks
seems like every garage sale, flea market, auction, etc., there are lots of brand name, older files, for next to nothing. i end up with so many, i give them away. they are much higher quality, than these chinese ones.
I have a nearly identical file set from Amazon that has worked really well for general home and workshop use.
I have a set off Amazon also and they are working well after a yr of use now
Good video. I have a set of the hf files they work fine.
They work well for anything I have had to use them on and i would buy them again
Good video handyman

yeah it will - either the 1 dollar CA or the epoxy from out there if you do not have any will work
I have several kits for small files
