In 1953 my parents brought this album back from Nassau when I was 4, it's the first music I remember. It's wonderful, thanks for posting it.

Brilliant, my dad was given this as a collection of 78s in the early 50s on returning to the UK after nsome years working in Nassau, what a singer.

I am just discovering that this artist exists. I can't wait to go to Amoeba Records and get my hands on some of his 10's.

Nice quiet copy. What turntable and cartridge was used to make this transfer? Love it.

I can distinguish all of the lyrics except for 8:55 . "The cap'n ......... got drunk. Broke up the people's trunk. The police came on board and take him away." what did he say during ........ ?

I think it's 'the captain and the mate got drunk' - 'mate' being a colloquial term for a naval rank.

It's Blind Blake the calypso singer, not Blind Blake the bluesman...

There is an American Blind Blake and a Bahamian Blind Blake. This is the Bahamian.
