My mom did this with all the roses my dad used to buy her, so I’ve gotten into it as well. Shame that the roses lasted longer than a 25 year marriage. 😅😂
Lovely video. I used this method to preserve my daughter's bridal bouquet and reassembled it. It is in a glass case 4 years, still beautiful. I have last valentine's red roses preserved and ready to display. My father's memorial wreath is full of white roses. They are now in the same silica gel. We'll share them in small shadow boxes for his children. So, imo and exp,1 yr. is not accurate. My half sis got married in 06 and her bouquet was preserved ( by pro$), and sealed in glass box. Still looking good😊
Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing your experience with the longevity of your bouquets. It’s great to know that it can last beyond a year. ☺️🙌🏼 🌹
OMG I CANT THANK U ENOUGH FOR THIS VIDEO ITS EXACTLY WELL ALMOST EXACTLY WHAT IM LOOKING TO DO WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTERS GRADUATION ROSES I BOUGHT HER. THE GEL BEAD THINGS CAME TODAY IM SO EXCITED. THANK U THANK YIU THANK YOU 🙏🏼
❤❤ No way is it that easy 😮 Today’s 5/6 and Mother’s Day is 5/12 so mom won’t be getting this yet lol. But she sure will very soon. A Just because gift 💝
@@lovelyjubbly4151 Thank you for watching! I got these frames from Amazon by searching up ‘shadow box frames’ and a lot of options came up. Mines approximately 2.5-3 inch depth.
I dunno u will see this comment or not because it is an old video , but did the rose stayed soft after the 2 weeks process , and did the rose stayed fresh for more than a year ?
Hello, just to give you an update. The roses stayed exactly like this video for a year. It only started to fade out little by little in 18 months. I still have them and it’s a more dull colour today but none of the petals dropped off. Hope that helps
I already know how to dry flowers with silica yet I watched this entire video because it was so well made. I've liked and subscribed and hope to see more of your videos. Have you ever tried preserving flowers with glycerin?
That’s not necessarily true! I’m not sure how long you’ve been preserving flowers but I preserved 2 dozen roses from my fiance from our first Valentine’s day (2018) & I still have them in a Shadow box & they are still PERFECT!!! Valentine’s day was 2 days ago!!! & that made them 4 years!!!!!
Your roses turned out lovely! Were you able to dry all those roses (looks like 28 roses?) with just a 5lb bag of silica gel? I'm going to be drying a dozen roses (maybe more idk yet) and I'm not sure if 5 lb is enough or not.
5lb should be enough. The pack that’s in my link is 1.5lb and I got 2x of that, so essentially I dried out two dozen Roses that way. Also depending on the size of your container. So you’re safe with 5lb. Good luck!
sandra rodriguez Hi there! Thanks for watching! ☺️ I haven’t tried painting them in gold before. I suppose that is possible with a very delicate brush like a small cosmetic brush. The petals are very dry and fragile after the drying process so you would have to be very careful. Airbrush might be a better option to get into the creases. Thanks 🙏🏼
Hey I tried to do this the flowers are dying faster what am I doing wrong here I completely covered them with the Silicone sand and in a tub ware container
Hi, as long as it feels like paper dry. It’s very easy to shake off the excess silica sand off one of the flowers to check. Estimated time is 10 days or 2 weeks depending on humidity.
Sand is better as it reaches to every corner between the petals to dry out. But you need to submerge the whole flower and cover with silica. I have not tried with small beads before. Let me know how yours go. 😊
You’re welcome, glad you found it helpful. I got these box frames from Amazon. There are a lot of types to select from depending on the size you need. My roses are now almost a year and they still look pretty good on the display. Some colour fading as happened but overall I’m pleased with the results even close to a year. I am guessing about 18 months longevity. Thanks for watching
Hello! Can I do this process without cutting too much of the green stick of the Rose? I don’t like it so short but I wonder if it works if they are long
I had a couple questions! @SundayRose99 If I were to do this with a sunflower, will it work the same way? And also if I were to time this correctly for Valentine's Day, would I start this process 2-3 weeks before V-day?
Cassie Lee Hi Cassie, I believe that it will work for sunflowers as this silica drying method doesn’t apply any heat or wax, so the petals should be ok! Maybe for an extremely delicate flower petal, it might not work. But sunflowers should be ok, although I haven’t tried it myself. I would say that because sunflowers tend to be large, there’s going to be a lot more moisture to dry out, so you will need more silica and perhaps even up to 3 weeks to do this process. Hope that helps!
@SundayRose99 Is there a way to make them last longer than 1 year? I was wondering if you could recommend any wax dipping or alternative methods you found that works for you 😊
I haven’t tried wax or other methods. They might last longer since no air is able to get to the petals. But I think if the petals are too delicate, the wax might be damaging as well. Since using silica to dry out the flowers is still considered keeping everything natural, 12 months is not too bad in my opinion. Thanks for tuning in.
Hi LeeLee, they lasted 18 months with the brilliance & vibrant colours that you see in this video. It starts fading out little by little after 18 months. Today, they are still intact in the same jar & frame, just only the colour is much more muted. It’s definitely not brown or dead looking. Still pretty but muted/faded.
candy Anywhere from 6 months to a year! Most people say a year. Mine is still looking the same as when I posted this video, so I am confident to say a year. Hope that helps!

I try making a dry rose and it start to decay and oxidise or turn brown only after 3 days? what have i done wrong?
These cost like 300 and so simple process! I thought they were chemically treated.
They are, these are just dry not really the eternity ones
Besides silica gel what else can be used to coat the flowers to preserve them?
That was awesome to watch
Can you reuse silica after for more roses?
Yes the silica sand can be reused over & over @ over! Don’t get it wet and close it in a good storage box after usage, it will last you
Great vid, thanks!! ☺☺🌹🌹💯✔

Is it ok if i use silica gel that used in the shoes box?
That won’t be enough to cover up the entire flower.
If we paint the roses will they last forever?

Hi there, I tried doing this process after watching your video, however after 7 days my roses were really crispy?
That’s great! The dehydration of the roses worked for the flowers. This will preserve them. 🙌🏼
They should be crispy
How do they smell after the drying process?
They don’t smell like anything after drying out. It looses the scent once it’s dried out. Hope that helps
i have a question can you do this with other flowers not just roses?
I’m pretty sure that you can, except for the flowers that are too delicate.
