I hate the mindset of the corporate world when it comes to their employees being pregnant. They’re very ignorant. My employer has maternity leave but they only offer two months and they believe that that is a lot of time off! They expect you to be fully healed and responsible to take care of your child and go to work like nothing! It’s ridiculous! They need to change those rules!
Valeria Garcia na the company shouldn’t be responsible for giving you time off cause you decided to have a kid. Don’t have kids if you can’t take care of them or whatever the case may be.
Karen M Yes they should. You shouldn't have to sacrifice your career to have children. If they have to give you sick days, and vacation days, you should get maternity leave.

I am an intern right now, and I have a theresa in my office. She has been telling everyone I am too busy to take other work and lying to me and everyone in the office, including the CEO. The CEO is aware that she is manipulative, but won't let her go. I leave in a week, and I refuse to work here again. I personally know the CEO, and I have a meeting with him tomorrow, yes saturday, to discuss the treatment of multiple women in the office, that were sprouted by 'theresa'. I love this video and it really helped me work out how to handle my situation. love you nikki.
The QueenGingy Girl, I hope everything works out for you!! It’s such a slap in the face to know that people are doing others wrong but people will turn the other cheek to them. Stay strong, and keep standing up for yourself and your worth - no one should have to deal with that sort of middle school drama and gossip in a professional work environment.
Yep yep yep yep office politics is the worst - I was literally you Nikki at my job (I worked at Government office) my desk was literally the first desk in the office you saw outta the lift so you naturally gravitate towards it (plus I got on with everyone/I was 18 and had a lot of friends throughout the whole office) “Maureen” was the office gossip and couldn’t stand that everyone would stand at my desk and chat as I worked - even my boss - so started a roumer that I was having an affair with one of the bosses - which would have been difficult as he was gay!! She was fired sooo fast her feet didn’t touch the ground and I was promoted as I actually was a very good worker!

I'm very relieved that this story had a happy ending because it's definitely hard to go up against someone with "superiority" and actually win. I have a manufacturing job and how you described corporate jobs is very similar to my work environment. Honestly, there are workers with seniority in my environment, i even have someone like Teresa at my job and she acts like that as well. So it's refreshing to hear a story with that 'Teresa" of your office getting reprimanded AND fired. It gives me confidence to step up for myself no matter who it is. Thank you Nikki.
