Now’s my time to shine
Read my mind😂
We will shine. Dnt worry.
Definitely a lot of stigma against calling yourself introverts. Glad you addressed that. Well said
You think so? I feel as though introversion has become the new “cool”. I’m speaking as an extrovert lol
Nah, it's a trend now
@@PepsiT98 nothing cool about it :/
I’m a huge introvert and a loner but I do want to be in internal medicine, and be an ID specialists because that’s the main source of social interactions I need. Partying it out or going for drinks with colleagues at a very populated bar is not my deal but I always appreciate a casual conversation while in office
Based on my Internal Medicine experience so far, you spend most of your time in a cramped room sitting in front of a computer staring at patients charts. Honestly, its kind of depressing ... but yeah you definitely don't have to be an extrovert for the specialty.
@@thefenerbahcesk4156 is this for general IM or also specialties such as neurology?
@@truthteller2711 General. Specialties are mostly clinical - you meet a certain patient at a certain time.
Something like being an extrovert or introvert does not bar you from doing a certain thing or having a certain profession. I’m pretty introverted but my dream career is in surgery.
a lot of doctors i’ve worked with are painfully quiet and awkward lol
I say i'm ambiverted but lean towards being an introvert. Interactions with colleagues drain me a lot more than interactions with patients, so I prefer clinical specialties where I can help one patient at a time.
I've been watching your videos since high school.
And my dream actually came true.
Now I'm in medical college.
Introvert and hoping to do surgery, so happy to see it here considering the stereotypes of surgeons :)
I love these videos as I am looking at a career in Anesthesiology later on. Thank you!
Woowhoo!! During the shelter in place/lock down I decided to go back to school(switch industry) & finish what I started! After watching this I’m really happy I made the right choice 😅 I can’t wait to reach that finish line!!😊
Could you guys possibly do some videos on subspecialties in different fields? I’m a freshman in college but I want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon and subspecialize in heart&lung transplants. I think they’d be helpful!
I don’t disagree with the suggestions in this video, but I also don’t want people that assume that introversion has to mean as few social interactions as possible. I’m very strongly introverted, but i feel that if I had to practice pathology I may as well just quit medicine altogether. Rather, I want to make sure that the patient interactions I have are meaningful and require time, empathy and patience (preferrably management of chronic and terminal disease).
Agreed!! Introversion just means we need time alone to recharge vs time with people to recharge. This video seems very stereotypical to me.
Thank you for including the proper def of introversion
Never knew I needed this video!
I heard their are pathology based options for some people other than hands on medicine.Pathology seems interesting of a lab career track and sounds exciting
Video: "Introversion and extroversion is not black and white."
Me who scored 100% in introversion in psych tests all the time: 😶
Love this video !
Hey, thanks for all of your videos. I know this is a long shot, but could you do a video about residency programs in some of the EU countries?
Surprised psychiatry didn’t make the list!
Love ur videos ❤️
I thought I'm a introvert i can't be a doctor but now i think here's light.
Hm… I personally disagree with some points in this video, but I know it might be helpful for other introverts out there. There are just so many different types of introverts it’s hard to generalise us all.
I am an introvert and the one aspect of medicine that draws me in is the one-on-one patient interaction. So clinic settings really attract me and even medical specialties, where ward rounds are longer because you spend more time talking to the patients and getting to know them are more in line with what I want.
Surgery on the other hand, is daunting because i’ve been in theatre and surgeons have to speak up often and work with a variety of other professionals. It just seems like a nightmare to me lol.
Social battery yes. Work battery not really
With respect to the list. Psychiatry is an extremely good area from point of view of quality of care for patient yet maybe less so for dr and hence not on list
The confident introvert will have a large battery for intimate yet detached attention towards one on one patient work. Which is what psychiatry is about
While the five above allow the down time from. “Draining social interaction while working
and they
do allow for reserve for the rest of the drs social world
Where the extrovert will be less drained in psychiatry the introvert will be still as mentioned lower on the social energy that remains
and this is why perhaps the other 5 allow the greater reserves
You may find yourself liking and Valuing your work as a psychiatrist but you will not look forward to it the way an extrovert might
It is a conundrum resolved objectively if one considers that the introvert may be most inclined and do the most focussed work yet that is more about the quality of the work not the life of the dr
Good video
Hello!
Since both neurology and internal medicine start of as PGY-1, can I switch between one residency and the other without having to match again ?
I used to delude myself into thinking I wanna be a surgeon make money talk less to people. But its not intellectually challenging its more technical work requires manual dexterity, long hours, vast years of learning. I think I wanna go for interventional cardiology critical care vause that combines medicine with surgery
I thank you for saying that, so in your opinion what is the most intellectually challenging field in medicine?
I don't think so.. Just pick up cases which are not usual than others... But are you really for fun into medicine? Rather than being able to help people? House md?
@@mrx4814 I guess that's internal medicine..
Thank you.
Would love to pursue Anesthesiology, the only concern is the long years of education required (and money to pay tuition).
To be fair, most medical specialities require a long education (and money, unless you live in a country where education is free/subsidized)
Okay!, i'm a bit stuck now so i wanna become OBGYN but I'm a introvert and i love my alone time honestly but i also want to radiology, but im fascinated with OBGYN i dont know im stuck
Hi ,I am curious, do u need A levels do become a doctor or can u do btec and still be able to become a doctor? Plz bring light on this topic
Thank you
1. Radiology
2. Pathology
3. Anesthesiology
4. Surgeon (don’t agree on this one $
-non clinical - anatomy, physiology, biochemistry professors and teachers in medical schools
IT’S SHOWTIME!
lmao it's so funny how most of these are already my options (clinical path, radio & anesthesiology)
Can you do same video for dentist? 🙁
Top 5 doctor specialties for the colorblind please!
Psychiatry, radiology ,non clinical careers as described in video, biochemistry followed by working in pharmeutical companies .
Thank
And Research!!!
Neurology?
Oh my god finally
Im an introverted teacher... figure that out lol 😂 Im so tired after school
is any one an Introvert and work in PM&R ? I really want to be a PM&R but I'm an introvert
ANESTHESIOLOGY WOOOOH
Hmm , i don't really think people go into med school to review patient charts
Can an introvert be in emergency medicine?
Okay I think I'll choose radiology course in the future🤔🤔
Is nursing is introvert and extrovent
Can a radiologist get into a intervential cardiology fellowship or no it requires a cardiologist?
in brazil it requires a cardiology residency
@@caiomagnoneiva9626 i want to pursue radiology and intervential radiology and intervential cardiology both seems interesting so i want to check the possibility
I don’t believe so. IC requires the Cardiology route first.
@@nsco9605 ok thanks
Which of these specialties will most likely be replaced by AI?
Radiology
radiology definitely
None of them or all of them. By the time AI is advanced enough for medical decision making we would all be out of a job. Too many false positives now and the technology won't be there for a while. Radiology will be hot for the forseeable future
@@malikfaisal7679 not really... Too many errors and false positive... We need experts to rule it out..
I'm an introvert. I'm more inclined to pursue psychology/psychiatry.
Surgeon you say? 😊
Its show time ⏲️
💖💖💖
Pathology.
Yah.I prefer Surgery :)
Neurosurgeon 🧠
How about a video for extroverts?
To the person narrating this video:. Where do you fall on the introvert/extrovert spectrum?
Slightly extroverted
I’m waiting for the “best specialties for Chads”
