You can also take Butwal-Palpa-Pokhara-Kathmandu, Hetauda-Kathmandu, Janakpur-Bardibas-Kathmandu, Biratnagar-Bardibas-Kathmandu or Kakadvitta-Bardibas-Kathmandu depending upon where you enter Nepal from. Among these Bardibas-Kathmandu route is the most scenic one if you happen to travel in a car.
