You are so welcome, Cheryl. Though there are lots of critics out there, I've found that the videos have been doing what we intended them to do. They were designed to help South Carolina students pass the CNA state boards as outlined in the 2012 Nursing Handbook, but I've seen that they've helped people all over the world. Congratulations!!
+R Mayer thank you with help of your videos I'm yet to take my test just a quick question is it require to say the skills exactly the way is writing in the book ? or you can just put the phrase in your own words still pass the test as longer you know what you are doing, because I was taught to memorize all the phrase for each skills please answer me I live in VA
@@ride105 -- I thought the test thing was a joke. BTW she didn't clean the sink. If gloves are needed to handle the dentures, then for sure the sink should be cleaned after those dirty dentures were in that water.
I am a CNA instructor. For testing purposes, you would place your emesis basin containing the tooth brush and toothpaste in the designated dirty area. Every other part of the skill was accurate.
I am currently taking the CNA class, while I am in pre-nursing for my BSN. I commend you on this fine video. Great job and very helpful! I will be testing out of the CNA program soon and needed to brush up on some of my skills. Thank you for posting this.
In Assisted Living Facilities they give you brushes made to cleanse dentures. It usually has bristles on both sides so you can clean the inside and the outside. REMEMBER: Use cold water because hot water will change the mold of the dentures.
Remember, most commercial toothpastes are too abrasive for dentures.. They make micro-abrasions where bacteria can grow/collect. Thanks for the video though! - Dentist
David Nekuyi thank you, I left a comment questioning that practice, of using toothpaste or toothbrush, as I have always been told not to use either, on partial or dentures?
I am studying by myself to be a CNA, just don't have the time to go to classes, I have seen to many videos, but yours are actually very accurate to the Colorado regulations based on the handbook, I am glad to found this source that will make easier my path.
Your videos are the first ones I've seen that demonstrate all the skills correctly. I'm taking the test tommorow and these are a huge help. Also going to give my instructor a link to your Chanel because she couldn't find any good videos to recommend outside of class.
Toothpaste Cap should be placed facing Down, NOT Up. By placing it Down, only the Outer Rim is exposed to Contact Contamination. The Inner Surface of the Cap, is shielded from Airborne Contamination. Since the Outer Rim of the Cap only touches the Outer Surface of the Toothpaste Tube, Contamination of the Toothpaste Tube is Minimal. If the Toothpaste Cap is placed facing Up, as suggested in the Video, the Inner Surface of the Cap is exposed to Airborne Contamination, which then transfers to the Contents of the Toothpaste Tube when the Cap is replaced onto the Tube. My source for this information is My Diploma in Applied Science (Nursing) from 1977-1979. Things can not have changed that much.
If you haven't continued with CEUs since the late 70s I certainly hope you're not practicing anywhere. A LOT has changed since then in the medical field.
Jumerjumper, congratulations on passing your CNA exams!! I'm glad the videos were helpful to you! As far as some of the other questions, I'll have to let the instructor answer those.
I’m a little bit confused, it was my understanding, to never use toothpaste or a toothbrush to clean partial or dentures. Only to use fix a dent type products? Also it was my understanding that using a regular toothbrush or toothpaste would cause scratches or damage?
hi im from virgina and i am curious do i have to follow the steps in order because when i watch some of the videos the instructor doesnt go in the order in which the book goes some things she does a step ahead?
i love this videos!!! they are so helpful to me. i am in the states of RI so they are a few things that are different like we have to dry the toothbrush after we rinse it. you do need to know your state's guide lines. this video has been a great help. Thank you :)
Thanks...I look forward to reading your blog. I hope our little videos make for a good refresher whenever you need one--or want to share these skills with others. :)
Thank you R. Mayer for replying. I have an exam on Feb. 9 here in CA and your videos are my reference. SC is South Carolina? ROP means Regional Occupational Program, where school offer CNA training.
I know this video is old but for those who are learning in 2019 I don't agree with this video because it was already on a dirty surface from the fact that she never washed her hand before taken up the tooth brush and barrier/ paper towel.
According to the instructor, some things are order dependent...like you would put on your gloves prior to cleaning the dentures--not AFTER cleaning dentures. Some other things are not order dependent, so it may not matter.
this video will be better if the lady makes her hair up as pro. nurse , the purpose to apply the liner on the sink to prevent broken dentures when incidently fall, therefore she should apply real towels or hand towels instead of paper towels.
Thank you for these videos ...I passed yesterday!
Thank you so much for posting these videos, they helped me so much when I passed my test yesterday!

Yes, but all of this is done just for testing purposes.

I'm taking my NJ skills test this Friday. Your videos are helping but I'm so nervous.

thank you so much for your videos I'm taking my CNA test on the 19th, they are very similar to the NC skills. Hope I pass!!!!
Does it matter if you follow the steps in order? Some of these steps are out of order but they make more sense. Are the steps more like guidelines?

The instructor in the video just left me an email and said, "That is fine."
Wishing you well on your state exam!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND THE WAY YOU EXPLAIN THANK YOU VERY MUCH 😊😊😊
I have been watching these videos for some time now. I take my state board exam this Friday February 23rd, 2018. Wish me luck!!!! :)

Thank you! I can finally clean my nana's dentures!
You're welcome!!
aren't you suppose to wash the denture cup as well because you put the unbrush denture in it ?
wow..i love this video its a big help for me thanks
I"m so glad you find her helpful!
Thank you
Do you use soap to clean the denture cup and emesis basin?
Hi. What part of CA is this video taken? Is this an ROP?
My test is coming up in a week in Lacey WA
During clinicals, i used a cloth as barrier in the sink with partially filled water.... is that okay to do for the state exam?
is this video good for the Texas state exam?
this video will be better if the lady makes her hair up as pro. nurse , the purpose to apply the liner on the sink to prevent broken dentures when incidently fall, therefore she should apply real towels or hand towels instead of paper towels.
Ro-Anne, I shot these in SC, not CA. I don't know what an ROP is.
my Pennsylvania handbook says gloves first. DOES ORDER MATTER thanks God bless
Ro-Anne, by the time you see this message, you've already taken your exam. I hope all went well and that you passed with flying colors! -Ralph
We are now practicing how to clean dentures in my cna class and they provided 2 pairs of gloves to clean da dentures 🤔 and u use a pair of gloves,
???
hows the exam ro-anne??am taking it too..
I’m the updated booklet we get to study it doesn’t teach us about rinsing the basin itself
Shouldn't there be a dirty and a clean side?
Yes, SC is South Carolina...not Southern California. :)
do you have to wash your hands first
Thanks so much for Sharing.
Very nice
All that water though😱
Is that alright to use toothpaste for dentures ?
You did not wash your hands at the end 😳😳😳??
Do not use regular toothpaste on dentures as it will scratch them Also use denture brush not toothbrush.
Dentures are supposed to be cleaned with denture cleaner
Thanks for the lesson but just shut the water off it’s such a waste
Except you’re not supposed to use standard toothpaste on dentures... Too abrasive, can scratch the acrylic.
need to use denture toothpaste
