you get matched based on the weight of your deck not only the commander, but the commande can be like 1000 while the cards are like 20 so the commander matters the most
Yeah, at least earlier in 2024, it was 1800 for a few commanders, and in the 99 the highest was 45, except for two cards. Tibalt's Trickery was like 180 or something and there was another even higher... I forget.
@@Kasaaz Zenith Flare lol, it was something STUPIDLY high... I think like 600 or something? I remember throwing a Tibalt's Trickery in my monored meme deck and it completely wrecked my matchmaking
worst part about it is that it wasn't just data from Brawl that they used for its match making. A card like Paradox Engine was worth the same as, like, Shivan Dragon (not really, but still). They barely put any effort towards Brawl values and they use(d) a LOT of data from OTHER formats, which is ridiculous.
I feel like the crewmate in Spaceballs at the diner table where the chest burster pops out and he looks at this blue white garbage heap of an Alien and says "Oh no, not again..." and dies. Followed by Blue White Chest Burster putting on a top hat and stage dancing to "Hello my Baby, Hello my Honey, Hello my Ragtime Gal"
I actually love seeing all the nasty decks in play. i don't play magic myself but your videos always keep me engaged with the cardgame and entertained through the day. Thank you for all your hard work.
I made this deck after you showed it on a live stream last week. It has been super fun stiffling fetches. I keep banefire in my Roxanne deck for this reason.
I saw this video and then played against it in my first game of Brawl for the day. Arrrrgh! I did beat it with your Anzrag deck from a while ago, but the opponent made some mistakes.
Wow that last fight, I saw ahead that you lost it and spend the whole time going "how does he lose??" Now I know. Also shoutout to post-game wrap on brawl
1:19:30 flashback to 2010 when I got knocked out of a PTQ win and in by some kid playing burn who randomly had 4 of these in his sideboard to beat 5c control. Died with two cryptic commands in my hand and the mana to cast them, plus naya charm for a DIY snapcastermage or a fog. GGs.
I just want to point out at 56:09 you tried to shuffle away the hengegate pathway but when you considered at 57:04 only to have it still on top. All this to say, shuffler is fine.
Can you play Horobi, Deaths Wail next. It’s a genuinely fun and interesting commander and your opponents quit all the time because of artifact turrets like liquametal coating. Thanks for all the entertainment.
im sorry but teferi 5 is kinda a wincon by itself if you are planning to milling them to death by never running out of a library by just standing there menacingly
What's a good deck to try out in brawl? I've only been playing magic for about a month. Laughing Jasper looked fun but i don't know if it's too much for my smooth magic brain
@ItWatchesWithoutEyes I've enjoyed trying, Inalla ritualist, Aminatou veil piercer, and Obeka splitter of seconds. Those are the only ones I've tried out so far
@@Weslykan I guess my questions for you would be how many Colors are too many for you, and what kind of play style do you prefer? Interactive, comboing off, going infinite, creature spam, planeswalker spam/superfriends, lots of instants/sorceries or lots of artifacts. Do you like preventing people from playing the game, or do you prefer just letting the ball roll?
@ItWatchesWithoutEyes I think four or five colors are too many. I like interaction I think instants and sorceries. I think I would prefer to prevent people from playing but my lack of knowledge about what to counter is holding me back. I have yet to try planeswalkers or creature spam decks so I would not know. I just thought Jasper Flint looked funny because stealing stuff is kind of a meme
33:20 The arena UI seems to be very clear here (and it also lines up with Patriar's text). No, CGB, the lair no longer has the ability to transform (nor the ability to tap for mana)
Also, the reason it was still a 7/7 is because the ability was a replacement effect for it becoming a creature. It's base power/toughness was set to 7/7 by the ability (turning into a creature at all) already resolving. As well as the fact that the duration of the ability was until end of turn.
I wonder.. if they made a card, instead "take another turn" but you draw a card, gain another attack step, untapp all permanents, activate playnswalker abilities another time, and all upkeep abilities activate another time. Would the opponents concede the same way?🤔
If you're gaining every step in the turn a second time, there's no reason for it not to say "take another turn." Let Stranglehold and similar work instead of this "um, actually the card doesn't say extra turn, even though that's basically what it does"
To those curious, I’ve tried this deck after running into it many times the day this video dropped. Got curious why so many were in the queue when I hadn’t seen any, found out that of course CGB made a video on it. It is not a fun deck to play and it is not fun to play against. I don’t mind playing against control and I love playing some types of control, but I hate playing against decks that turn the game into solitaire. This deck is straight up solitaire. To CGB, not that you will or should care, but I hope you are capable of accepting well-meaning feedback. Love your channel. Been watching you for years and I love the brawl content, and I get this kind of deck is your brand. However, I’ve noticed several of your brawl decks recently almost exclusively rely on this type of strategy (Jace, Tamiyo, Ashiok, even the recent sultai deck). As a player, viewer, and person trying to learn from you, it would be so much more fun and engaging to see more diversity and imagination in your brawl builds, especially in a game mode you tout as being the best game for Bo1. I couldn’t stand to watch even one full game of this deck, it was so boring. I only managed playing two games with this deck. Won both of them, but it was just too incredibly boring to want to play with any further. I didn't even have to craft cards for it because these types of decks you make are so repetitive. When I opened a pack with this commander in it weeks ago, I immediately thought "CGB will build a brawl deck with this" and guessed 96% of the cards you have put into it. I wish you would maybe try building some kind of white/blue aggro/midrange/tempo instead, or use commanders and strategies other than the ones I see 100 times a week (ex. Tajic video, Grenko, mono blue: always oops all counterspells, mono black: always oops all removal) Maybe this type of control just isn’t for me, but I strongly believe most players won’t find this deck engaging to play or to play against. To the people I run into playing this deck or a different variant, same "strategy"…. I have as much or more patience than you. There will be no salty rage quit from me. From your perspective, you are trying to get a rile out of me, but I feel absolutely nothing other than a lack of respect for you as a person and disdain towards your capabilities as a player. You will get a win, but it’s going to come at a cost to you. It won’t be an easy win, and it won’t be an engaging or fun win. I will make sure you come out of that game feeling as satisfied with the game as others you might run into that would be playing you, and I will keep you in that game for as long as I can to prevent you from souring someone else’s game time. I will never play a land and there will never be a spell for you to counter or a board for you to wipe. You can sit there through the rope every turn from the mulligan and there will be ropes from the stops I put on your turn- every turn, including all four of your extra turns. You'll play your planeswalkers and ult all of them, you'll draw cards, you'll get to do all the cool things you hoped you'd get to do, but it will be for nothing, because I am sitting on the couch watching and laughing at anime with my wife, occasionally glancing over and hitting "pass". I don’t care if I lose or get banned; it's just a card game. Your game is to make others miserable and play magic alone, so my personal game from the moment you show up on my screen ceases to be playing magic and becomes ensuring that you succeed at playing magic alone for as long as I can hold out, and that it is a miserable experience where the “awesome” way you think you are playing becomes a very, very lame experience. You better start the game with some way to do damage, or it is going to suck up a lot of your play time, because I am going to force you to deal lethal damage and make it take as long as possible. If ya’ll decide to play like a toxic jerk, be prepared to receive toxicity in return, not salt. CGB, thank you and please keep it up with the brawl content. Just please consider building future brawl decks to be more diverse and engaging than what has been the recent trend on this channel.
I can't blame people for playing this crap on arena, because you always face it. I think if you want to play "fair magic", you just quit at some point or choose blue; all it takes is one very bad day.
I think at @33:43 you could have Mana Tithed the Toski. The Lair of the Hydra could no longer tap for mana since it had lost all abilities (including mana abilities) to Patriar's Humiliation so they couldn't have paid the 1.
Love all this recent brawl videos, but you seem to lose every video. Maybe you're losing your touch /j Seriously though, keep all the cool content coming, this format seems tailor made for you
I don't see why you have to make a big fancy deck to make people scoop out of not wanting to play with you. I just take the maximum amount of time per action and people just leave.
Props to your last opponent for never giving up.
I mean they completely threw the game and missed lethal. No reason they should have lost that match.
Loving this arc of cgb playing decks he actually wants to play and decks i actually want to see him play.
That last match was absolutely hilarious. What a rollercoaster of a ride

What do you mean by 1000 and 20?
@ basically it had hidden values for each card’s power level and it adds them to to try and pair you closer to the same deck power level.
I kept saying, "Restless Anchorage. Play the damn Restless Anchorage" lmao
That banefire was literally 🔥🔥🔥
This is definitely a Dust Bowl deck, right? “3tap Sac Land: Deal 3 Sanity Damage”

6:37 how did you know. Yes I was smiling
This was glorious! I can't get enough of Azorius no-wincon CGB

I love seeing so much brawl content. Seeing you play Narset is icing on the cake.

Land tax is a free shuffle every upkeep, even if you don't have any basics left.
That last game was glorious. I love the ending.
LOVE this commander. Well played!

Speaking of Eiganjo, it occured to me that YGO Handtraps are basically Channel effects
This is very evil, and I'm here for it.
Looks fun but omfg that’s a lot of mythics. I think it would take a free to play player over a year to build this deck.
The grind is real.
Mad props to that Halana and Alena player for playing through your nonsense haha
Didn't LSV do the whole "oops I forgot my wincon" to victory with tendrils of agony on the pro tour
This really puts a smile on my face.
I just want to point out at 56:09 you tried to shuffle away the hengegate pathway but when you considered at 57:04 only to have it still on top. All this to say, shuffler is fine.
I opened a Temporal Manipulation from a Foundations pack as I watched this video
Can you play Horobi, Deaths Wail next. It’s a genuinely fun and interesting commander and your opponents quit all the time because of artifact turrets like liquametal coating.
Thanks for all the entertainment.
I’ve been trying so hard to make a deck with that card but it’s really hard to keep alive if your opponent reads.
Rebound Sea Gate Restoration has me cackling with glee. Happy Holidays all!
This deck makes me so happy
Cool deck with great skill as always, thank you
From France, have a good day
I think you've convinced me to play Brawl
I see "No Creatures," I click.
YOUR OPPONENTS WONT LAST 5 MINUTES WITH THIS ONE NARSET TRICK
im sorry but teferi 5 is kinda a wincon by itself if you are planning to milling them to death by never running out of a library by just standing there menacingly
Here I am waiting for time warp to finally get banned, meanwhile they just add another one
Nice, control w/o wincon beside the falcon at 3
I crashed at 0:69, however did i miss something afterwards?
U ain't nuthin but a squirrel tucker
Very nice run with Narset this time
What's a good deck to try out in brawl? I've only been playing magic for about a month. Laughing Jasper looked fun but i don't know if it's too much for my smooth magic brain

Be evil, play Fynn DT 😂
Oh I am so smiling right now
Of course people concede if you play "you lose your turn" effect. Modern games do not have these anymore :)
Shoutout to Treylav, he's a real one❤

You played with your food that last one 😆 I wondered why you didn't attack for nine that one turn

I didn't even watch the video. I saw the thumbnail and the title, and came to comment that you are and evil person. That is all.

Is this a 2nd playthrough or the first one reshown?
cheers for banefire
Me, about to get whiny about creatures and then I watch the first minute of the intro: 😠

Is this what they call Deja Vu?? feels like ive seen this video..
Roxanne is a very good deck, but people don’t build it right
As always I get completely murdered by the other person getting god draw after god draw. The hits never stopped coming. Lost like 4 or 5 games.
But CGB, what's the wincon?
I might be monster but I love this deck lol
Valuegasming
I think at @33:43 you could have Mana Tithed the Toski. The Lair of the Hydra could no longer tap for mana since it had lost all abilities (including mana abilities) to Patriar's Humiliation so they couldn't have paid the 1.
Yeah, but he can't be countered
if you play roxane i think you need to play with banefire
Needs more colors *this message is sponsored by WUBRG Gang
Maybe we should convince him to play essika as commander since the rainbow bridge counts as WUBRG... And then add a Jin-Gitaxias just to be sure.
Love all this recent brawl videos, but you seem to lose every video. Maybe you're losing your touch /j
Seriously though, keep all the cool content coming, this format seems tailor made for you
SARKHAN UNBROKEN
I see a hero that’s a great wincon lol
