I’m starting my first army and this is awesome you could do themed lava bases in the colors of your army and by far best basing video I’ve seen please keep going this is perfect
@@StudioJ7 yep I watched it!!! Favorite basing videos I’ve found thank you so much keep going! And would love to see any other content learning so much
So especially with Skaven, which can have 60+ clanrats, do you know of a cheaper alternative to Mordant Earth? Even if each base only takes 5% of a pot (total guess), we're still talking 4 or more pots for a 2k point list.
As yet I have not found an alternative that is as dark or looks as good, Greenstuffworld have some crackle paints but not a black one. I may need to do some experiments and see if I can make my own version that works as well. Watch this space.
Well did some maths and on paper found a much cheaper version, need to buy the bits and see if it actually works as well as Mordant Earth, if it does its under half the price, but thats if it works :D
Yes totally, would recommend a thin coat of Matt Varnish to seal it off and then any tufts you like will work, self adhesive ones or small dot of super glue will hold any tufts in place, ive added tufts a few times no worries :)
@StudioJ7 agree. But I would not but these 4 specific expensive bottles just to do this. Alternative paint/mix recommendations are likely to benefit more people's wallets.
Awesome video can't wait for the next base guide!
Great video, really helpful

Welcome :)
Looks great. Will have a dabble myself. Even when varnished, do the cracks get knocked off easily?
Quick coat of a matt varnish over the coat should help them stay in place :)

@@StudioJ7 Awesome! Thanks for applying your expertise.
Welcome, I do love a bit of experimenting and "Science" will see what I can come up without breaking the bank.
@StudioJ7 I subbed so I could be sure not to miss any followup. :)

If I wanted to go with a purple, what colors would you use? Thank you in advance
From what paint range..? GW, Army Painter, Vallejo etc etc ?
If I was using GW paints then prob Phoenian Purple, Genestealer Purple and Dechala Lilac
Are you still able to use tufts with something like this?

@@StudioJ7 thanks!
Awesome! You should post the paints in the description?
@@michaell825 good plan I will do that, thanks 😊
Citadel paint? Pass.
@@jellyfish-7 which paint range would you prefer ? I have a few
@@StudioJ7 your tutorial is good. But there is no reason to use expensive Citadel paints.
@@jellyfish-7 just one of the most well known and available ranges out there, but I always use Vallejo, Army Painter, Pro Acryl

@@jellyfish-7 ok will make sure I do some future videos using other ranges 😊
