How to replace Hawkins pressure cooker safety valve

These are reasons for fusing of safety valve:
1. If there is less water there are chances of the cooker boiling dry. In such a situation, the temperature and pressure inside the cooker rise and cause the safety valve to fuse.
2. When the vent tube is blocked, there is no outlet for steam, thus the pressure inside increases beyond the normal level causing the safety valve to fuse.
3. If cooker is used on a larger flame than required such as if a baby series cooker having a small base is used on a large burner of a gas stove, the flame will extend to the sides of the cooker, thereby overheating the cooker and fusing the safety valve.
4. Continuing cooking on high heat and not reducing heat after cooker reaches full operating pressure.

Great video.But I have to say the process of replacing the valve/fuse is a bit on the longer side involving some needless operation.If it is a hawkins,replace it with a hawkins safety fuse/valve and just like Mr Vaibhav commented,there is no need to remove the handle or vent nozzle just to replace a fuse and for that matter employ a plier.Just get one each of size 19 ring wrench and spanner(ring wrench if it is stubbornly tight only)Slide the spanner to reach the nut located below the handle...unscrew and replace the valve/fuse.If the fuse do not budge, then grip the opposite side of the fuse with the size 19 ring wrench. Do also remember that some variance and older edition requires size 17 spanner.Some unbranded one can also be unsrewed with a size 18 and even 20 size spanner. So keep spanners of size 17-20 in your kitchen....you can never tell when you might need it

@@science_sir i checked the video, mine is fixed upside down only. But working fine now. I feel it shouldn't be an issue because the safety valve will melt anyway due to high pressure, upside down or not! Pls correct me if I'm wrong

U just need to know your model name along with the size (how much litres your cooker is) (u will get all this details on the packaging box that has been give during the time of your purchase), then accordingly u need to buy the safety valve. The valve silicone was not there anymore. I think it needs a replacement.

Heat the jammed part using burner or any other means, then try to move the heated valve using a spanner or plier, hope this will solve your problem. Best regards

Thanks for your query. Hope ur taking about the valve nut. Ya, ur absolutely right, sometimes it's difficult to unscrew. First u need to open the long handle to get access the valve nut. Then using two pliers or two wrench, we need to open the valve nut (one plier or wrench is to hold the lower valve nut in place & the other plier or wrench is to unscrew the upper nut). Please try this one more time & send me the feedback. Best regards
