    Honorable mentions:
    Tiredness
    Hormonal hunger
Hydration (and no, I don't mean grab a glass of water to stave off hunger pangs, but simply ensuring you are drinking enough throughout the day).

Lets talk about the role family relationships play with being a bottomless pit. I faced a very traumatic event in my childhood at the hands of family members and the bottomless hunger came from trying to fill my broken heart with something. That traumatic event wouldn't have been so traumatic if it wasn't compounded with my needs after being neglected. Ive learned that cortisol due to an extended stressful situation increases using something to cope. I became a food addict. Im on the process of healing.

This is a very valid point that I absolutely resonate with. I feel like I have a bottomless pit when it comes to food, yet I know I am trying to fill all the voids I did not receive in childhood, which were a lot. So here I am, 16 years into a binge eating disorder, food addiction, compulsive over eater. Sarah, I would love for you to speak more on this, when we use food to fill us up emotionally. I volume eat in order to feel full, versus empty.

    • @Sarah-with-an-H

@@steph4160 well to combat the binges that where uncomfortable I began purging too. Because I could feel full, but also relive the feeling of being overstuffed. My reality was I felt more alone in the presence of people that claimed to love me than I did alone. It was composed by my mom giving me dirty looks as a preteen every time bi put food in my mouth during family celebrations. This made me feel very lost and alone with nobody in my life actually loving me. Food became love. The food of corse because it was celebrations was party food so chips and cheese and crackers and all the junky foods eaten at Christmas Easter 4th of July and birthdays.
Had my mom cared about me at all she would have known how much her actions where controlling and causing me to feel ashamed and that fed the binge eating

I have been overweight since I was very young-a toddler even. The only time I was at a healthy weight was when I fasted for about 9 years of my life. When I stopped, the weight came back. I’m trying to get back into fasting because it’s the only thing that works for me. Am I hungry? Yes, but that’s who I am the majority of the time anyway. No matter how much food I consume, I’m still hungry. I have emotional ups and downs like everybody else, but the reason I eat so much is because I’m just plain hungry. Some of us don’t get full like “normal” people. It is what it is.

I can speak from my own experience but some of the things she says are true on the physical level even if you are already recovered on the emotional and psychological level. I had to address depression and anxiety with medication to stop continuously gaining weight and binging episodes on sweets and carbohydrates and treat underlying trauma with therapy. To address binging patterns I saw a nutritionist over the period of three years because I had to undo the bad eating patterns I brought from home and learn how to get properly full in the first place by eating enough at my main meals, especially lunch and dinner and to get in more protein and fiber

Just want to say thank you! I've been wondering about this for many years and I always tried to threaten the symptoms. I got into very strict diets and rules knowing the impact of food, but I denied my emotions and feelings. I've been depressed for around 10 to 15 years, but now knowing this, I know things will get better as long as I pay attention to this.
    Have a good day.

I used to feel this way, never “full” until I’d eaten so much I felt sick. My solution is to drink a glass of water before I eat a meal, then to have a mug of bone broth with collagen with my meal. I no longer graze my way through the day. No snacking. I sit down at the table for complete meals.

I am pretty sure my issue is from growing up eating so many processed foods, I never taught myself a good nutrient/full signal. Follow that up by a tendency to substances like alcohol and smoking (in my younger years), and now I still have no off signal for eating. I spend a lot of time making sure my nutrition is good for athletic performance, I eat plenty, but still struggle with binging.

I often don't feel full b/c I'm vegan & right now I don't have enough money to buy all the produce I need. I also overeat for the reasons you give in your video. Guilt, anxiety & lately anger too. And the point you made about the body having a set point also seems relavent to me. Thanks for this video! Very interesting!

I am also vegan and broke right now. Remember that canned and frozen veggies count and they can be cheaper. Grains and canned beans are cheap too. Nut butters can go a long way to providing a good hit of protein. Tofu, tempeh and products like TVP and Soy Curls are great too. No matter what I eat though, it seems the days I do best is when I keep myself busy. Best of luck.

    • @jvnd2785
      @jvnd2785 5 месяцев назад +1

My friend, it's not about having "all the produce you need". It's not about your budget. It's about how restrictive your diet is. You overeat because your body lacks fats. Now, you can glug down a full bottle of the best olive oil on the market, take a handful of supplements a day, eat a large bag of nuts every day...and your body will still crave fats. Your body will still crave proper nutrition- something vegan diet lacks and will always lack: animal fats. There is no substitute to dairy, oily fish, chicken or beef. Even true herbivores (e.g. equines) do enjoy a good dose of fish oil in their diet. Horses go nuts for a bucket of oily pony nuts (with added fish oil).
You can guilt-trip yourself into a diet. You can tell your brain what you think you need. But ultimately, your body (and not your opinions/ideas) is the one to tell you what you need.

I strive for satisfaction not fullness. I am always satisfied when I am nourished. Ever noticed when you eat high volume high calorie processed or fast food, you still crave and still want to eat. It's because you can fill your belly to the brim and still be seeking something to eat if your body has not been nourished.

I need help. Can you advise on my situation? I was anorexic for over 10 years in my early teens through to twenties. My weight stayed stable and healthy for another 10 years after recovering. Then I got into exercise in my mid thirties which helped burn excess off but then when my father became ill I gave up my previous life to help him and it took it’s toll on me mentally and physically as I struggled to make time to exercise so the weight has piled on and I am three times what I weighed when I was at my lightest.
All I do now is think about food.
I obviously have always had an unhealthy relationship with food.
It’s like an on/ off switch either on or off. I have gone from one end of the spectrum to the other.
I have always cooked from scratch and rarely eat out as I have some intolerances that affect me for days if I am caught out by eating them unawares.
I can go all day if I need to when working without much to eat but it’s when I get home it’s hard then not to overeat.
I just have a bottomless pit as you call it.
Every day I eat different amounts. Some days I only have two meals.
I have never snacked as it would turn into a meal for me.
