Alright ya’ll, I have a theory.
The abyss twin is most likely a puppet, the real twin is being held captive by the Unknown god some where. We know that the twins care deeply about each other and I think would practically sacrifice themselves if it were for each other. The abyss twin clearly does not really care, they left the traveling sibling behind many times. In the beta, the other sibling was chained up and watching the world waiting for their sibling to save them. The abyss twin is NOT our sibling.
During the quest where nahida tells us we are a descender, she says our sibling belongs to ‘this world’ or teyvat. Taking this into account, it adds to the abyss twin actually being a puppet since it had always been in teyvat. The unknown god took the siblings sword, and the traveling siblings power, add that to a puppet and you have the exact power, looks, and sword the travelers twin had. (If this turns out to be true i’ma freak out.) Think of it as a situation very similar to Ei’s puppet and perhaps the situation where Nahida erased the greater lord from the worlds memory if a little different.

Oh my gosh! I had a similar theory! But I'm still trying to figure out two things. Is Celestia against the Abyss? And is the puppet Abyss Sibling against or with Celestia? Because the fake abyss sibling sure is acting like they hate celestia, and are at a war with destiny. By destiny, I'm assuming they mean that Celestia has eyes on everything, but is trying to find the blind spots and fight. Does this make sense? help i can't explain like you!

I will say, the Fatui are the ones who gave Nahida the information that The Traveler was The Fourth Descender- at least Dottore, but still- quite sure they all already knew
that's not exactly true but also not exactly false
i think i got a little headcanon/fantheory of what could happen near the end of the game
when we finish the shenznaya story , likely either talking out or beating tsaritza we are going to take the gnosis and write off our sibling from the world , back as it once was( cause honestly the abyss doesnt rlly need traveler sibling as a leader , they already got the king[likely Albedos creator , which released the wolf monsters onto the world when celestia struck kenriah] and maybe queen , as the travelers sibling is allways either prince or princess) what would happen to the gnosis i got few ideas
1. they got handed to their respective archons back aside from hydro which goes to neuvilette
2. they get destroyed and dragons maybe regain authority
3. they get handed to dragons and they for sure regain authority (since arhons aside from cryo dont rlly care abt their gnosis)
4. we yoink them or make nahida keep them for herself to make the akasha for everyone in the damn world
