Thanks! There are many Pow Wows that take place every weekend, especially in the Spring and Summer, in many states, Oklahoma being one of them. Being married to a Native American and raising two Native American step daughters, I've probably taken part in more of their activities than most whites. I'm very honored to have had this opportunity and cherish the family and friends I've made with this exceptional race of people!
As far as I can tell, it's a War Dance, a little faster than some I've heard for Grand Entry. The Drum was called Red Land Singers and it's leader at that time was Tony Arkeketa, a Ponca Indian, who has passed on. Our family knew him and were good friends with him.
I met Rhonda Red Cherries when we both competed for the Alabama Coushatta Tribal Princess in Livingston, Texas, 1980-1981. Deanna Butler Bates, Sac and Fox
can i ask what they are singing? This sounds very similar to what i heard while laying in bed one night. Sometimes i hear other "music" like old cowboys, sometimes this, sometimes just ummmmm well all i can describe it as is angelic sounds.
