one of the reasons SOPHIE is so highly rewarded in the hyperpop genre, other than just being amazing, is the way she personally engineered all her sounds EXACTLY the way she wanted. she really understood the genre like nobody else did. rest in power, legend💘

If you were to ever react to any hyperpop albums, I'd say the most important ones within the genre right now are:
    SOPHIE - Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides
    Arca - Kick iii
    Charli XCX - Charli
    Dorian Electra - Flamboyant
    100 Gecs - 1000 Gecs

There’s also a section of hyperpop that’s not so much ‘hyperpop’ sounding but you can hear the influence. I’d suggest

@@Luscent She passed away earlier last year and the world of pop stans mourned her forever after, because she and A.G. Cook were pioneers of hyper-pop, with their iconic production on "Hey QT", SOPHIE's song "BIPP" from the album "PRODUCT", and Cook's PC Music label in general.

    Faceshopping - SOPHIE
Shake it - Charli XCX (featuring Big Freedia, Cupcakke, Brooke Candy & Pabllo Vittar)
Adam and Steve - Dorian Electra
    Detonate - Charli XCX
Ram it down - Dorian Electra (feat Mood Killer, Lil Mariko, Lil Texas)
And this is less hyper pop but Gone by Charli xcx featuring christine and the queens is truly a highlight of Charli xcx’s entire career and it is from a hyperpop-focused record
And all the records these tracks are from are also magnificent those are just tracks I consider some of the best from said albums. Much love and great video !

Arca is one of the most essential artists we have making music today. Her vision is revolutionary and Mequetrefe is just a glimpse into that vision. Her music ranges from more distorted pop/club sounds to downright dystopic and even violent music. It for sure takes some getting used to if you're not typically versed in more heavy and experimental electronic sounds but once you give yourself over to it you will fall in love!

Been listening to hyperpop since the early PC music days before it was even called hyperpop. Very happy to see how much love it’s gotten over the years and how it’s evolved over the last 8-9 years. In my eyes it mirrors punk in a lot of ways by how fringe it is despite showing a lot of love for IDM, dance music, and 90’s/00’s highly manufactured bubblegum pop in a very loving yet self aware way. You’ll notice the more recent artists are in-fact influenced by earlier hyperpop music as a whole rather than bubblegum bop which is where you’ll hear shifts in the genres sound, taking cues from other genres like ringtone rap, trap, hardstyle, pop punk, and metal.

Arca’s Mequetrefe talks about gender expression, femininity, and generally about liberation, as the line “she doesn’t take taxi , Uber or Lift, she wants to be seen”, meaning the people shouldn’t care if people see them weird as long as they are being themselves. Mequetrefe can mean a small boy or an insignificant person, so the line “mami wants mequetrefe, she deserves it” keeps going on with the liberation theme, moving towards the more sexual way. There is a lot to see in the song and every time you hear it you understand it more ❤️

@@Luscent listen to clarence’s solo stuff! He pushes pop’s boundaries to a similar extent as hyperpop but in a completely different way; hyperpop usually takes from very sweet and synth heavy dance/club music of the late 90’s/00’s and takes the extremes from that style and pushes it to its brink, Clarence pulls from that same era but from more pop/R&B music and shoots it into an avant-garde and futuristic stratosphere, it’s actually super artsy and lyrically very deep too!

You know way back around 2011 there was an artist that really sounded like this sort of, as in aggressive and “glitchy”. The song specifically that comes to mind is “Make Me Real” from She. It just doesn’t really have the bubblegum pop feel.

Your comment of not knowing where to listen seems to be the biggest problem most people have with hyperpop but I never had it, idk why but my brain separates the noise automatically even in non hyperpop songs, so when I'm listening to it I don't need to be so focused, I can just listen 'cause all the computer noises and music are being listened to while I'm still focused on the lyrics, I actually love hyperpop for the same reason, it's so crowded that this thing happens and I can't think of the words to explain it in any more detail I just love it.
