Great info man, keep it up. Watched pretty much all your videos because I'm trying to go into an 18x contract since I'm not allowed to go into seals because meps fucked up my depth perception test and after watching many of your videos, I feel like army sf is absolutely a better fit for me than seals, a whole wider range of specialties with the same team aspect I desire so much. I'm picking up on some running training a seal sent me, picking up my pushups and situps, and figuring out how to integrate rucking with my daily routine. The mos I want is 18d since medicine and healthcare interests me the most out of the 18 branch so I'm studying up on that too. You've got a way to bring people up when they're down, to bring hope to those that are lacking. All my family told me that there's no way I'd be able to do it. Obviously it boils down to everyone's individual situation but my wife and I are thinking we either treat SFQC as a deployment since we own a home or to PCS the family to Bragg. I've heard both sides of the argument from group guys. A lot of dudes suggest treating SFQC as a deployment and hope you get a year off before deployment once you arrive to 19th / 20th Something for guard guys to consider

Really appreciate your channel, dude. I've learned so much watching your videos and it really has helped me prepare for my enlistment as an 18X. I'm shipping out to basic Sept. 7th!
Sound advice as always. I think focusing on the short term hurdles instead of the long game is super important. Getting through a day, a week, a school, etc. All are easier to focus on working toward the end goal of receiving your green beret, not only to stay positive but to simply feel like you're making progress and not focusing on what's left, but how far you've come already.
Buck, do you know anyone in the community who is still working after disk replacement surgery in the low back? I came to your book signing at Fieldcraft. I’m in the pipeline for 19th and blew out my back doing my own training (not anyone’s fault but mine). My doctor says I need surgery. I’m not giving up on SF and will do whatever it takes to come back. Just want to connect with anyone who has done this before. You’re the best bro. Thanks for everything you’re doing - Evan.
Damn Shawn, that was awesome! I now want your tattoo, your former job and most of all your theme tune lol The composer for The Netflix Punisher has some serious competition.
And remember when they're f••king with you during Robin Sage "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose." Don't worry about it. Don't let it get to you. Move on to the next problem.
I’m so pumped, earning my degree at the FNG academy and moving onto the 18x pipline next month. Watching/listening to buck is 10x’s better than digging through endless forums online. Quick question, how much free time do you get before starting the Q-course after selection, and if you’re a single dude (e-5 and under) where do you stay for the duration of the Qcourse? 🤙🏼
I’m currently an 18xray waiting for my prep course to start. U live at the Special Warfare Center and School barracks at Fort Bragg. The barracks are pretty nice. College style dorms most of the time u have ur own little room which is really really nice coming out of OSUT and Airborne. As far as Q course after selection. The next phase after selection is BLC (basic Leadership course) and the class up for that varies a lot.
Hey, thanks for great videos, made me understand what the Army SF is like and dismantle misconceptions I had. I do have one question that bothers me a lot and I dont know if it was asked before or addressed by you in one of the videos. What are the chances of a green beret surviving a deployment? Everything about the community speaks to me but it seems that their missions are about the most dangerous missions imaginable. It seems that the greater risks are taken in nearly every aspect. Not only are they in hostile area often without support conventional forces might have but they even split up and work with people who are not on the same level and might not be as trustworthy as the boys from the team. Acquiring SF skillset is appealing, but the application of that skillset sometimes makes it look like these professionals are being put in extreme danger in an unwise manner. Maybe I dont understand something but in certain instances it seems that such valuable operators are meeting their end in a manner inconsistent with their level of training, if that makes sense. I remember watching a documentary in which a team of GB were doing a routine night time patrol and got blown up by an IED... it was heartbreaking to watch and it seems the goal of the patrol did not justify the risk, as well as the loss of a team member. The Niger Ambush was also heartbreaking. I understand dying for the sake of saving or protecting others, but being under a constant risk of dying to an explosion or an ambush is a different story as it would make me feel as if I dont have any agency over what is coming for me. I want to try 18x but ultimately no amount of training, benefits, confidence, or friendship gained matters if I'm not alive in the end. In that regard doing something less impressive and intense but staying alive might yield more in a long run. Any input on how to calculate risk vs reward for serving in army SF? Thanks again for all the information! The inventory was a big eye opener.
Could you do a video on ways to help get one's mind right if they are distracted/going through things while still needing to perform? Example being, in the video, is a fight with a spouse.
My recruiter told me to stay single or find a girl who knows how to be independent if I go for ranger or any other combat MOS. Always another guy to keep your side of the bed warm.
