I was 13 the first time I heard Southside & loved the sound immediately. Saw him for the first time when I was 14,at the Palladium in NY in 78. I can't put into words the feelings that ran through my soul! I felt so alive! I get a natural high from him ,his music, the whole package ! Thanks Johnny, I love ya man!

Just as I'm getting over the shock of learning John had parents I learn he has brothers! I always assumed he sprung, fully formed, from the head of Otis Redding.

great series, I've been a Jukes fan for, well what seems like forever. I interviewed Eddie Manion and LaBamba on a TV show years ago but never met John. Now I feel like I have. Who knows....;-)

I've just heard this first part of the interview, but as usual with your stuff, it's thoroughy interesting and charming. You ask broad, gateway questions and then step back.
It's interesting with these older musicians- they have, no doubt because of their distance on what they've experienced, a depth of perspective and insight that guys/gals in their youthful prime tend to lack.
Johnny here has this great blend of perspective and excitment when he recalls growing up.
    Keep up the great work!
