Was a great day, I was one of the train crew on the footplate of number 1, thats me pouring hot water onto the points and signalling mechanism. Got there in the end, all good fun. Cracking video btw 😁.
Hi, Hugh thanks for your comments and I must agree steam always looks good with some snow and the Bo'ness Santa trains are always fully booked so plenty coaches are required 😄👍🎅🌲🚂
What a lovely vid of not only the railway but of life around Boness. Everyone out enjoying the snow and the train looked well packed. Really lovely. Thank you
@@ecksfilesbonyuk8 I really did enjoy it. Now there was no Royal Scot or A4 thundering out of the station but that part of the vid didn’t matter, There was steam and diesel on show so everyone was happy, but it was the people, the dogs and families all out enjoying and coping with the weather as if it was an everyday occurrence. But thank you for capturing the essence of Bo’ness and its inhabitants
Now I see the amount of snow, I am glad that I passed on my shift. Well done those who ran the Santa trains. That's a lot of tractive effort to get the train moving.
A treat from start to finish. Well captured in every respect. Glad to see the train well patronised. Certainly a good start to Christmas! Greetings to you and all the people involved up there.
What a joy to see. 4 decades ago I lived in Edinburgh for 14 happy years and vividly remember the fun we had whenever it snowed despite the cold and inconvenience. I now live in Asia where snow is unknown so your beautifully observed images bring back the fondest of memories. Thank you so much.
I still remember the big freeze of 62/63 , I was 9. Well I moved to Aus in 1972.and yes it snows in the mountains but really it is nowhere near as cold as blighty. I miss the seasons in the UK, believe me you can get sick of sunny cloudless days, and drought.
@ecksfilesbonyuk8 you also can't beat the sound od a good Birmingham Sulzer We had the class 26s working out of Kingscross in the late 50s, also the midland used them but for some reason they mostly wound up in Scotland
Very nice picture postcard stuff. Respect to all the staff and volunteers for turning out to run the services. Hope you did not get cold feet filming it all.👍👍
I visited this railway in summer of 2018 on a tour to Scottish museum railways. The tour was organized by a German travel agency situated in Dresden. For me it was the first British museum railway which I have seen really in action. It left me a strong impression. To see now the snow covered landscape is great.
Great railway run by dedicated and friendly folk. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there. I’d be back more often, but it’s a bit of a long trek from London
Good to see that the Scots, my fellow Celts, I'm a Cornishman, are living up to their reputation of being hardy souls by running trains in those conditions and passengers turning up to travel on them. Down here in Southern England that amount of snowfall would have shut down nearly everything. I did a fair amount of work in Scotland in the noughties and it was quite a relief from working with the English in the South East.
The service went straight to burkhill (station) and then straight back again to Bo’ness. It didn’t stop at any other station along the way, so it would still be classified as express. I know this because I was staffing the train. Hope this answers your question.
Can someone please explain why the uploader needs to have ads playing on this. The greed of people on yohtube is destroying the platform with ads. Well done all of ye greedy lazy people who are destroying what was once a great platform. Whatever happened to the good old fashioned "go out and look for a job" 👎👎👎👎

Don't we ever get ordinary snowfall any more? Heavy starts at 6-8", in my book. Light is under 2"
Thanks for your comments so take care😃👍🎅🌲

kids will know lord roberts as thomas because well yea
So points has been cancelled or postponed due to heavy snowfall conditions are nuisance so deep ground for early extremely warning sometimes
Thank you for your comment😄👍🎅🚂
How many EMUs and Modified EMUs are there?
diesel 27001 has the big fan on roof - how is rain and snow kept out of engine?
Rose good question and I have no idea, thanks for your comment I hope someone out there will let us know😃👍🎅🌲
@@ecksfilesbonyuk8 so many diesels have the roof fans so I presume there is a duct down to the radiators and pipes to direct rain onto track?
Nice setting for santa specials if you belive in the over fat git but what ever brings the loot in.
Can’t understand the main line express head code when it’s a speed restricted branch line
Oh my... It is the Polar Express and it's fulfilling dreams, so why does it matter?
It’s Santa’s Polar EXPRESS!

it's a special, and they can put on it what they like. Also it's only 5mph in the yard my friend.
