Enteprise J is basically a starbase so you can expect heavy resistance from it. And what i have heard about is that it can travel unlimited time in space. No need to dock anywhere for repairs.

So I actually thought Discovery got better after they went to the future. One of the things I noticed in the earlier seasons that turned me off from the show was the writers/showrunners were having a difficult time trying to ballance doing their own thing with the constraints of the show being a prequel series. Sending the ship to the future allowed them (the writers/showrunners) some breathing space and they became a bit more comfortable in their writing capabilities.
The show went from "I don't really care for this" to "meh, it's ok" in my eyes.

it is a common downside of prequel... the writers often can't do much (when they do, either they violate canon or make a bunch of fans angry. or both)

    Nice Showcase!😅
Some KM ships have FTA (Future Technology) scripting that includes, among other things, Corbomite Shielding that reflects some/most projectiles back to the source.
A good example of these in action are ships by Blackrook32 (Theseus Class, New Orleans Pack, and Detroyat Class packs for instance)😎

If you mean, the Discovery-A being the modern tech and the J being the eleventh century one, normally I would agree with this - however there's a little point that made me consider that 32nd century Federation ships were not automatically more powerful than 26th century ones - that is the fact that the Temporal Ban and the Burn removed quite a few techs from the picture and made starfleet focus on super-efficiency to make their ships work with as few resources as available, they went on something a bit equivalent to the Dark Night from Gene Rodenberry's Andromeda, albeit shorter and halted before the Federation completely fell; leaving them with mostly pre-Temporal-Cold-War tech but upgraded for maximizing power saving.
Not saying that an Enterprise J equivalent from the 32nd century would not be more destructive, strong or powerful than its 26th century counterpart, just that it would be far slower-at-FTL and/or less powerful than what a 29th-30th century Enterprise J would have been with all the tech they had, plus some techs the Enterprise J had at the 26th century like the coaxial warp drive could have been potentially banned since it uses space-time folding to move - just notice how in Star Trek Discovery that pre-TOS ship survived before the retrofit a bunch of Earth Quantum Torpedoes and that only collapsed their shields instead of making them explode with a single torp (when a quantum torpedo from the Enterprise E would have quite likely done the deed) - so in overall a smaller retrofitted ship like the Discovery-A would have still had the chance of being overrun if they got too close.

@@alexslgato1735 no they're saying that 32nd century starfleet refitting the Discovery with 32nd century tech is like bolting modern tech to an 11th century ship. Agreed on temporal war era tech likely being much more powerful than 32nd century tech though; we've seen them able to beam people across the galaxy through hundreds of years in time with temporal transporters, and temoral shields which make ships invulnerable to conventional weaponry.

While I didn't like the Klingon war arc, also the Klingon design. I did like lorca and loved the terran empire mini arc. s2, 3 much better, though the cause of the burn was a let down. S4 was a step backwards, the season plot technically was done in 4 episodes, the rest was all filler eps.
But we wouldn't have trek back if not for disco.

Discovery got better when they went to the 32nd century, but I refuse to see the Burn or any of that apocalyptic nonsense as canon. It’s a dark cloud that hangs over any future Trek series or movie set in the 25th century. A sort of spoiler for any threat or plot. We love SNW but you never forget that it’s a prequel.
