Relocated two years ago. Everything you said is on point. For me, the only reason why people move back is the arrogance thinking they are better than the locals. People have to learn to unlearn. Ghana is a different ball game. You really have to get close to people who have made it in Ghana and learn from them. That's the only way to thrive in Ghana.
Moving to Africa is not for the weak or those who lack planning. Its not some Wakanda utopia. Their are real challenges and if your not mentally ready. You will leave. I came to Kenya with a native Kenyan and it is a tough change. Anyone in the diaspora that comes to Africa with these utopian dreams will get a rude awakening on the ground. African countries are not for the weak. The hustle mode here is on another level.
Not mincing words bro. Very true. Ghana is not for the faint hearted. My respect to anyone with no prior living experience in a developing country thriving in Ghana. Cos it's a skill that not everyone possess.
@@rushasarethe smartest people you know are in Ghana so why is Ghana bankrupt and begging from the IMF. Ghana lacks basic roads, drainage, sewer systems, infrastructure, have corrupt politicians and puppet leaders. So who are the smart people in Ghana? You? Where did you make money? US. Why did your family leave Ghana? So you made it in US. Isnt it the sacrifice of African Americans who fought fir decades for civil rights that oaved the way for people like you. My guy think before you speak. I watch your videos but your delivery on this one was very condescending. You can be average in Ghana and make it no need to be extraordinary. Lol 😂😂😂
You are such a wise young man. I was born in Jamaica, went to live in the USA and stayed there for 50 years. However, Jamaica's customs are very similar to Africa, of course, that's where we initially came from. In Jamaica, people walk slowly they don't move by the clock, and the marketplace is loud and very busy. You have to be business minded there are no jobs for foreigners, some streets have Hugh pot hole with expensive houses, and it doesn't bother them. So even though I am an American citizen, I still maintain my roots. I got a lot of experience from America. I got a good education in America, and I am fine. I have nothing bad to say about America even though she has her problems. Now. I want to retire. I have residual income. I know how the culture works, and I want to embrace a country lifestyle, simple quiet with good food good people ❤
Brother well said, poor citizens with low mind set carry microphones disturbed public peace early morning. No good road network. Only politicians communities and the rich areas have water, water road and discipline. Ghana is very expensive. Marketers and traders make hell of money from their customers. In short, we blame the west for our problems meanwhile, our habits as citizens is way different from how the whites think. Some youth in Ghana today open TikTok live chart just to discuss about politics and blame leaders. Our foundation as a nations was shaken when Nkrumah brought greedy mindset of thinking Africa can make without the Europeans.
You are damn right! @ 7:03 you hit nail on the head. Gotta be book smart, street smart. Ghana ain't no disneyland. I have been to Ghana twice this year and you are right money goes fast.
YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!! I believe that the most important factor for African Americans succeeding in Africa is building/ buying a house ! It shows they had a some what decent job in the US and the ability to save the large sum of cash that you need to build/buy in Africa ! Once they can do that then the chances of success on the continent is high . Retirees have the greatest chance for success .They have a steady stream of income and in most cases a house to sell to enable them build/buy in Africa . I hate to say this but majority of the AA coming to Africa are not going to make it ! If you cannot make it in America where the government literally organizes everything for you to succeed from free public school .scholarships /loans for college , mortgages and first time home owner programs to help you buy a house , 401k and social security to try to prevent people retiring as paupers , then how will you make it in Africa where the government can barely provide water and roads ?
Great video! There are no cushions here like in the west so if you don’t have an income producing asset in place before you move, but decide to figure out things when you come with your savings then it could be difficult. There are great business opportunities here because there are many problems waiting to be solved. In order to tap into these opportunities you need clarity and focus which comes through having a system in place that takes care of the living expenses. Also the choice of where to live plays a big role.
A great video by all standards This is a must watch and that’s the reality. You spoke it all But I got a video coming for you on the Uber drivers in Ghana 🇬🇭.
But Rush the land issues in Ghana 🇬🇭 is everywhere my brother. Regardless of the region, you got to be on your toes. Stool lands are the worse. Accra has both stool and family land so it’s a mixed disaster dealing with lands in Accra. Some regions may be easier but there are same elements of land dispute everywhere in Ghana 🇬🇭. We just don’t have a system dealing with land acquisition. The reason I say that is, the systems put in place don’t work. The new land ACT, 2020 (ACT 1036) at best is just a legal document to represent something and it’s implementation is zero. Even win a court case on land and you will still face challenges so we need to do better. If the ordinary Ghanaian can’t afford to secure land in Ghana 🇬🇭 and has to go through turmoil and chaos to secure land, then we are not ready. If you want to dive into this conversation I got an expert who worked at house of chiefs to help. Thanks 🙏.
The first point is exactly why i think people leave is that people dont humble themselves and start living like their rich because they have some money saved up
Hey Brother I love your honesty and integrity and intelligence. Can a 60 yr old retiree make it there with $70k usd and $2k usd month pension living a simple lifestyle? Where would you live and how ? If I May please. Thank You 🙏🏾
Hello, Yes that is more than enough to live a nice simple life. More than simple actually. As long as you avoid living in the prime areas of Accra: For a detailed breakdown, let’s have consultation. The link is in the description.
pretty negative video but thanks for the effort. However, you are 100% right by saying you can get far being mediocre in the west but that would certainly not be sufficient in Africa ✅
Try traveling to another African Country and living their full time and you will understand. Each African country is made to exclusively benefit its majority population. Imagine being in a room and people only speak English to you and to everyone else they speak their language that you can't understand. This is why U.S. Millionaires and Billionaires don't stay in Africa. It's like you are being ignored, it's isolation. We have a country called The United States and that's where we truly belong. The entire world can travel to the U.S. and perfectly fit into our spaces but go to any other country where the population is less than 50 million and see the difference.
When Africans come to your area, do you speak English to your neighbours in the presence of the African or you speak the native language of the African for him to understand? Get off with your stupidity ok

The true developers who build the US where black inventors. I hope my info helps.
@melissaotson770: You are correct. Many of things that are accredited to others where invented by black people. And, unless you are descendant of enslaved people, you would never understand the psychological impacted and legacy that slavery have on the minds of people. You will never understand why we speak negatively of the west, even though we have benefited from the west in many ways. It's a love hate relationship. My brother, who feels it, knows it. A lot of historical injustice and brutality are written in our DNA. Traumatic experience can be transferred from one generation to the next, and sometimes manifest in all kinds of abnormal behavior. It's only God can correct and heal the wounds of slavery. As a Jamaican, I still feel the pain of my ancestors. Because it's in my DNA! So don't get upset when we speak negatively of west. You, just don't know my friend!
