I was last week in Amsterdam and tried this out and worked really nice.
We parked at the Johan Cruyf Arena on monday 10:11am, bought our train tickets in the parking lot for 8.50euro / 5 people, went with the metro to Amsterdam Centraal and then on Thursday we went back with the same ticket from Waterlooplein to Biljmer Arena, we arrived at 9:15am and went to pay the parking ticket, after we scanned the parking ticket and train ticket it was 3euro for 3 days spent.
(Be aware that those tickets are not valid for trains but only public transport like metro, tram and bus and only for 1 hour way there and 1 hour way back)
Thank you again for this video it saved us a lot of money and time :)
At the metro, how do you check in 5 people. Is it with the same ticket ?
That is where i used to live in one of the 3 flats. Won't shout out the name for privacy reasons! Fun to see it again. Moved away there in 1999
Thank you so much!! Have a great 2023! :)
Thx alot😂, we are dutch but an older couple living in the north and never travel by public transport 😮, but now we have to😢
Hi everyone. This video is very usefull and I wonder how we have to check out from public transports? Shall we scan the ticket in the tram/bus before stepping out or do we have to scan it outside?
Thanks for your Help.
Thank you for the video!! I found loads of useful information on your channel 🙏🏻
Thank you for the Very clear information given. Could you please be so kind to inform me for the following. a) Does the P+R Arena parking work with the same procedures ???? and second , Is there any time restriction for staying in Amsterdam city center? I mean can I spend for example five hours in the city center and to pay the one euro parking fee? Thank you very much for the your support
Best video ever ! I will try this today .
Thank you veeeeeery much for uploading this guide 🥰🇩🇪
Very useful! I will park at P&R Zeeburg and we are 5 people. I think we can all travel together (go and return) if I buy a P&R GVB card, is that correct?
When I buy that card at the machine, do I need to scan the parking ticket I got at the entrance or do I only scan it when I come back and pay for the car park?
Thank you for the video. All the process is quite confusing when you read it online. GVB should give you free rides for your useful video 😉
Hi, was wondering, did you travel as 5? and did you buy the GVB to city center for each person or? im planning to travel by car, and park + ride, we are only 2, so i read that i can buy a 5.5 euros GVB ticket and works for the 2 of us, or not?
Thanks alot for your help.
thanks for this video man!
If the parking time more than 24 hours, ıs ıt avaliable to use P+r ticket for return part ( asking for if there is deadline ) , and with group of 4 the system give each of us a card or one with 4 check in
Hey, do we need to check-out when we come back, but stay in the area for next 2-3 days? So we do the process last day of our trip?
Parking costs €6 or €13 now. Public transport ticket from €6 for 1 person to €9,50 for max 5 persons. Strange why my reaction from yesterday was removed.
can this ticket work if i park my car at friday, buy a gvb ticket, got to the city and leave it for 2 days and come back to the p+r station from the city.
Thank you very much, it is not so difficult, next week i will try :D
Proszę ;)
Niestety byłem tam i wszystko pozaklejane :D te niebieskie automaty całkiem pozaklejane i z boku napisane że na tym parkingu to nie działa.
hi, what if I return to the P+R at night? Is the GVB ticket good for that? Because if I have to buy another one for night transportation, I won't have the return ride of the first ticket for the discount in the P+R...
tks
Thank you, for explain.
and do get the public transportation ticket for free at the parking and pay it later or do you have to pay for it directly at the parking?
When you step out from the bus to walk to the city center do you need to make a check out first (I mean to put your ticket at the bus card reader again), or the check out has to be done only at the way back when you get in the bus to come back to p+r parking? So just one check in for outward journey and one check out for the return, or one check in and one check out for each journey? I hope I've made myself clear. And I would like to know as well if I can take different public transport (for example bus for outward journey and train for the return) from different stations (situated in the city center) with the p+r ticket.
You have to check it every time you enter a public transport and check out every time you leave. You can take a bus, tram and metro ;)
@@amsterdamhangout5630 thank you
I have exact the same question in mind but still unclear. So for example:
Going to City center
I parked the car at P+R. Purchase the ticket, now i get on the bus/tram/train. I need to check in Right !!!
Now its time to exit the bus/tram/train i need to check out Right !!!!
Going BACK to P+R
Now again when i catch the bus/tram/train i need to check in ???
Now again when i arrived to P+R and leaving the bus, i need to check out ???
Please clear Thanks
@amsterdamhangout5630 if you take a gvb ticket ( 5 people ), how do you check in all of the 5 person at the metro ?
Hello. I have a question. So after i paid the ticket for the parking and for the transpo I can leave my car in the parking lot for 24 hours?thank you.
It depends on parking P+R. There are a few of them and it differs in each location. Go to P+R VUMC. I think there you can leave your car for 3 days.
Thank you!
Thank you very much - very very helpful!
Good tip man thanks for this video. Cheers.
Your welcome Pawel ;)
If you want to buy a GVB ticket, do you have to hold the parking ticket up to the machine?
can the ticket be used for multiple stops. We're going to Amsterdam this weekend
Hi, did it work? did you use it for multiple destinations inside city?
@@omarsaidturk We didn't go to Amsterdam in the end due to time restrictions so I don't know i'm afraid
@@Curryking32000 ah ok, better luck next time! thanks though
@@Curryking32000 Thanks Mike, i have managed, i went and i used this method, and for 3 days = 3 euros, like a lovely treat :)
Thanks🙋🏼♀️
thx for the video!!! what’s the metro station at this park and ride?
Hello, great video and thanks for the effort. i just need one clarification...
We are 4 persons. We are gonna park at the P+R VUmc and each one of us are getting a 24 hour ticket for the public transportation. Can we use it to get the discount? We are gonna ride to the center and come back from it as well. Thanks again
you each get a 24 hour ticket which is valid for one hour travel to the centrum and one hour from the centrum to P+R, it's NOT valid for a total of 24 hours, only 2x1 hour. If you need a 24 hours ticket for the public transport, it will cost you 30 euro per person...
@@snoeki Hi, we are only 2 people traveling and doing this P+R, do we need 2 GVB tickets or 1 GVB ticket to city center?
and if 1 GVB ticket is ok for 2 passengers, how do we checkin and check out?
Thank you so much 😊
At about half of these official P+R locations, you aren't able to buy the GVB return ticket which gives you the possibility to travel for 1 hour on arrival and 1 hour on departure. At P2 VUmc for example - as shown in this videoclip - it is no longer possible. Unfortunately I haven't found a way how to obtain such a ticket. Does anyone know?
I found out you can buy any public transport ticket. You need to scan your card within the city center within 1 hour of arriving at your parking point to be able to prove you have used a public transport ticket to get out of the city center in order to reduce the price to €1.
Thank you very much for the video!
Thanks for the video, very useful 🙏 just a question, when i buy the ticket for 5,50 and go to the city but am planning to go 3 days after, will that ticket still work for the return way? The parking is for maximum of 96 hours but I didnt find anywhere if the ticket will be still valid. Thank you
Sure, it will be valid within 96 hours..
@@basje78 Thanks for your answer :)
We are leaving tomorrow for Amsterdam and would like to park at RAI.
We are staying at a hotel near the DeLaMar theater and are leaving the next day (evening).
I want to arrive at exactly 10 o'clock on Monday and leave around 6 pm the next day.
If I want a public ticket for my complete stay (2 people) , what should I get,in order to save the most money?
Thank you for your answer. Very good video.
So helpful! Thank you!
Is it possible if i want to park for 3 day, to buy on day 1 a GVB ticket go to the city and 2 days later i use the same ticket to go back to the Parking House.???
Thank you so much very interesting and i learn a lot in your video. can i ask you, how many hours can i used this ticket in riding the buss and tram in the center or its unlimited ride as long as you are in the center?. if i get the same ticket €6 that you used.
how many P+R card ticket we can buy. good for Two person?
thank you so much, I really appreciate your effort
Very good , i did this and is very cheap if you use park&ride.
@@Grubyjachybaty what do you mean?
Hi. I'm from switzerland and i want to stay for one week in amsterdam with my car. Can i buy this P+R ticket for a whole week? Or what is the best soulution for me?
The longest in P+R is 3 days, I would just park my car outside the city. Preferably in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost Area, or Diemen. Here you can find a map with parking pricing. Anything without a colour is free, but always be aware of blue zones with limited parking time and double check if it's free or not.
@@amsterdamhangout5630 so I can parc and travel to Center on First day and travel Back to p r on the Last day and I pay only 3 Euro total?
Can you use ov chipkart instead of buying ticket from the p&r?
Hi Shayan, you can use your ov chipkaart.
@@amsterdamhangout5630 thanks also can you advise if these p&r have a timing?
@@shayanansari6372
Maximum parking time is 96 hours.
Enter on weekdays before 10:00: €8 for the first 24 hours, then €1 for subsequent 24 hour periods
Enter on weekdays after 10:00: €1 per 24 hours
Enter in the weekend: €1 per 24 hours
Is that what you mean?
@@amsterdamhangout5630 yup, thanks a lot for the info
@@shayanansari6372 No problem! Enjoy your time in Amsterdam!
Hi. Is it a must to buy the public transport ticket on spot?
Let's say I have a 3 day ticket pass for the public transport. Can I use it? Thanks
I must admit that I've never tried it. On Amsterdam website, it says that you must use OV Chipkaart OR GVB card. There are various 3-day tickets and regular 3-day public transport ticket is also OV, so it should be fine. I tried to call the city hall but they do not work today. I will call them on Monday and I'll let you know.
@@amsterdamhangout5630 wow! thanks so much! There is a big conference in Amsterdam next week, IBC.
All visitors get a public transport card for 5 days. That's why I asked. Thanks again!
Great! I've heard that's amazing conference. Enjoy your time there. I'll let you know about p+r on Monday!
@@amsterdamhangout5630 much appreciated!
I have called Amsterdam City Hall and now we know everything. You can use 1-day tickets, 3-day tickets, as well as any other city pass which include free public transport such as I Amsterdam Card. You mention that conference is in RAI(which is not considered as a City Center P+R Zone) in 2:11 minute of the video you can see a Cite Center Zone Map. To Get A discount you must go with public transport to the city center zone and come back from city center zone! It's mainly for people who want to visit city center.
Tips
1. At P+R RAI, there is a maximum parking duration of 24 hours. After that you pay the standard day price.
2. For a street parking next to the RAI you will pay 4,5 Euro per hour, and on Sunday parking is free.
3. On Saturday - parking on the other side of Amsterdam Ring is also free.
:)
Great explanation! Thx
👍 Thanks
and can i pay by cash at the parking?
Card
Hello, What do you mean with check out?
Is checking out in the public transport when you are going to go out in your ride to the city center?
Or is checking in when you are in your ride to the parking again?
Thanks in advance
I wanted to go to amsterdam for a few days by car, but i feel like im going to spend way to much money on parking knowing i have to park somewhere for at least 3 days and nights...
Super useful video!!! D.u.w :))
Thanks for the detailed explanation but don't film while driving. It's NEVER worth it.
Do not use this Parking. You won’t be abel to buy the tickets to get to the Center from this parking as they don’t sell them anymore.
And you will be paying the full price.
Go to another P+R as they are many.
This does not work anymore. Just so you know.
