Yeah TV shows are very expensive to make. Paul was suggesting a pilot episode for around $30-$40k which I think is reasonable to film a conceptual piece to use to pitch to studios.
A reality show is not needed. Just getting it on TV is what is needed. WAL and Game of Arms gave the sport its biggest boost, imo but WAL didn't have the reality aspect. Cornhole is on ESPN. There is no fake drama garbage. Just exposure through TV.
I believe it was discussed as a potential idea to pitch to studios to get it on network television. More of an idea with discussion behind it rather than a "This is the only thing that will work" type of deal.
RUclips algorithm boosting comment 💪 ... it's a different kinda game this AW sport. but ya there could be a cheaper way for a reality show, a UFC type AW house.
You can’t compare UFC or any type of fight game to armwrestling. I could rent the local National Guard Armory in most any town for a fight night & sell 3,500 tickets on any Friday Night. If I gave away 3,500 tickets to an armwrestling event & spectators still would not go watch.
I compare the two all the time as I am a hardcore UFC fan and have been for decades. I have seen the path they took to improve/promote the sport to the levels they are at currently and I can see potential similarities between the two sports of mma and Arm Wrestling. I do agree with your analogy of giving tickets away and people still not attending, however I would say that's an issue we are attempting to work on to get the sport to the level where people do want to attend events.
@@HollywoodMattConnelly Before UFC- We ran armwrestling as a promotion to sell tickets for The Original Toughman fights- We ran 8 Armwrestling events in local area, Winners comete (armwrestling) for cash on Fight Night as part of halftime show- Hold ring-girl contest each bar. Game of Arms was a complete financial disaster, never sold any commercials & failed to pay out $245,000.
OPPS $236,000 not $245k
Ouch.... was that $245k prize money?

$236,000 US
