I've always thought Daimlers so glamorous. As a kid we were watching "what's my line?" one night on the T.V., one of the panelists was Lady Docker. " That's "er whats got the gold plated Daimler" said my older sister. "What's a Daimler? I asked. "I dunno but she's got a gold plated one" "Mum, whats a Daimler?" "It's a very expensive car that would cost about three times the cost of this house, and that woman has got one that's gold plated" Mum explained. In that moment I knew I had to have one when I grew up. Life doesn't always work out how you hoped!
Fantastic vehicle! I had a 1959 Majestic barn find that I was restoring. Unfortunately, i had to move for work and couldn't take it with me. These cars really were epic in proportion and engineering. I wish i had heard her run. Thanks for sharing.
I respectfully disagree. 100% American, and I recognized Hooper coachwork straight away. Automobiles interest me, no matter their country of origin. And I remember an uncle in California who kept a Jaguar Mark V Saloon for many years...
@@paulsutton5896 I don't see any need for your apology - I read your original post as meaning that a car such as this was unlikely to appeal to purchasers in the US when new. Not a car to boost the UK's export drive in the post-war years.
Fabulous car and a very interesting and well made video. Only 1 thing , you refer to Britain as being bankrupt after the war . Completely untrue , we had hard times and some foods shortage. Read your history Sir .
I think if she were mine, I would pour myself a nice scotch, sit in that black leather arm chair, admire her, and toast to my own good taste. What a lovely machine.
Shame the owner knows so little. The side facing jump seat and pulldown writing table indicates that the car was ordered by a tycoon of some sort. The secretary occupied the jump seat and shared use of the table with the owner as necessary.
Shame you don't listen. The car wasn't ordered; as stated in the video, it was Daimler's entrant into the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show. Tycoon ? Covered at 05:34
@@HemiChrysler okay, I should have said 'designed for' rather than 'ordered by'. I could also have commented on the appalling state of the interior and your photography.
Perhaps sounding a little like valve clearances need looking at. Should be a lot quieter, evan for a cold engine. Come on chaps make it sound like a Daimler!!

Beautiful. I have 2 Daimler Straight 8s from 1938. They are lovely motors, and quite rare. I hope your car went to a good owner!

Absolutely Epic!! Thank you for sharing
That was some years ago. The car has returned to UK. Thank you for your epic comment.
@@HemiChrysler I have a rough 1995 Daimler six. I love it!
Thanks for posting this so long ago. I hope you did well, she is a beautiful girl.
That is a true classic.
lovely ! Exquisite colouring !
Nice truck
She is so beautiful and cute love her
Gorgeous car!!!
What a beauty! When they used to build REAL automobiles made of solid steel, real chrome, genuine leather, real wood and no plastic!
Awesome
Awesome I owned the same model @ 1967
How did she do at the auction? I imagine the Wooden Planks really loved her!
No sale at auction, but sold privately some time later.
Very beautiful.
Hardly the kind of thing to interest Americans, I would think.
You are correct. The buyer was British, and the car returned to UK.

I have this 1954 Daimler conquest saloon, and I'm really interessed in knowing how rare they are to find.

A bonnet, not the hood! No hood on a closed saloon! IMHO...

Strange noise. I had an Armstrong Siddeley with a pre-selector gearbox. That sounded pretty similar until it was warmed up.
How much?
I sold the car in 2012.
