When I used to work in a very high end wellness company all of my white coworkers thought my husband was white due to me always being dressed in designer and having designer bags and jewelry. It’s embarrassing how people view black women like we don’t have a dang thing.

I don’t think the question of “how can you afford nice things” as backhanded to black women. White women buying nice things get asked that question just the same. I like ask the question of “what do you do for a living” as it sounds overall better. A lot of people take that question as a bad thing when it shouldn’t be. I like to know how people live well especially black people, to know there are more well paying careers than a doctor or lawyer. It shows black people that they to can get to that place as well as open up new career paths ❤️
@Jennbkalldayas a black person/black woman I like to know how successful black people live because if I desire to live the life my counterparts are living then maybe they can give me some Insight on how to obtain it. Everyone isn’t being evil, backhanded, have ill Intent or malicious some people genuinely want to know so they can strategize. You do know that white people seek out other white people to ask them how they achieved success in something and it’s actually encouraged that you ask the right questions when amongst people more successful than them.Idk why black people find offense to how are you doing it questions.
