I’ve seen some videos about having an entire keyboard dedicated for editing macros, and I’m really looking forward to using an old (but fully functional) Launchpad Classic I’ve got sitting here. As you mentioned, you need one for testing - but I think the international shipping between us doesn’t seem to be the best way to do it. What do you say if I set you up to a VNC connection in a VM on my computer, with Launchpad attached to it, and we create sort of a grid so you point me which button you need to be pressed at the moment? Is this project still on your top priorities for now? Let’s do it!
Hello! I agree that international shipping both ways would probably cost as much as a new LP by itself. However, I don't think it's feasible to do this remotely. It takes multiple hours over multiple days of myself coding, running, testing, and debugging. In order for any tangible progress to happen, you would essentially need to be standing there ready to press buttons for hours. Also, I don't develop in a continuous fashion, as I take breaks when I get stuck on a bit of code and hop back and forth frequently. I am going to try and purchase one sometime in February, when I get a check I am waiting for. It should be noted that adding support for the Classic/S/Mini is on the top of my priorities list. With any luck, I will have this feature added before the end of March. :) Out of curiosity, how much did shipping look like one way?

Does anyone play Starcraft 2? This looks super awesome if the CORE could be programmed into it. I use a Lycosa macro keyboard for attack commands of control groups but a Protoss, terrain, or Zerg layout for building and spellcasters would be epic... Ella, I loved video and this looks like a handicap or children's interface could really push this in a commercial direction... Especially if you sold custom key maps for current game titles or productivity software like photoshop or final cut pro.. Some type of printer transparent key covers could add a layer of depth with light-up functions, or damage indicators.. So cool! Such a good idea, and thank you so much for sharing it...
How does LPHK behave when you have music apps (DAWs) like Ableton or FL Studio running? Also, does this detect the active app being used and switch the hotkey set for that particular app? It would be cool if it does this similar to what is being done on gaming keyboard/mouse software. Just found this today and will try it out when I get home.

Great project! I love that you can store presets. I just got a launchpad mini and have not experimented with it much beyond the examples. Is there a way to load a different layout on a button press? Can this be used to create/color the layout while still sending midi to another app? keep up the good work. lmk if there is anything I can help test on Launchpad mini + win10
One idea would be being able to record macros. The same is possible for my programmable mouse. You just hit record and the keys, delays and how long you hold the keys get recorded automatically. Really useful for more complex macros. It also would be really cool to use this as a healer in a mmorpg in a raid. The colors could represent the roles or health levels of your mates and you heal them by pressing the button. Probably extremly complicated to do, especially the communication between the game and your programm, but it would be really neat.

PLEASE! Make this for Launchpad Pro! I am an artist and wanted to use the LP Pro for the same thing! This seems much more efficient to do it in Python. Very very cool! If you need a tester let me know!
After I add support for the LP classic, and after I am able to afford an LP Pro to develop with, I will. While I personally would not want to use the Pro for macros (no tactile feedback, buttons where the hand rests), I do want to allow those who already have them to re-purpose them with LPHK. This feature is mainly pushed back due to the disposable income required to buy an LP Pro. If you want to help speed that along, I do have a Patreon related to this project, and all funds will go into buying the new hardware. Otherwise, just sit tight and hopefully I can get around to this before the end of next year. I'll keep updating the GitHub and this YT channel as I find the time.

Your project looks awesome. I'm not sure I'll run it -- I have two LP Pros that I run (using Reason) with a custom scale and note player. (It's written in Lua.) I'm always a little miffed that these launchpads are marketed solely as clip launchers for Live. If you add support for the Pro I'll give your script a spin. (I think you can see a could of crappy example vids of my script on my channel.) But if you do go with the Pro, you get that fucking lovely velocity sensitivity. Does the MK2 have aftertouch? You should do something with that in your script. Weather was perfect and warm for Halloween!
The MkII does not have pressure sensitivity, and furthermore the library interfacting with the lauchpad only supports binary (full or full off) button presses, even for the Pro. Beg FMMT666 on the launchpad.py GitHub for that. :p As for implementing other Launchpads, I only own a MkII to develop with. I really want to buy an original and a pro so I can make the program compatable with them, buy I don't have the disposable income. :p Been trying to find someone to borrow one from. But I also want a Pro, so I will definitely get one eventually, and I'll update the program then. If you like playing music, I also am working on a midi middleman that lets you use the LP like Launchpad95s instrument mode, but it outputs standard midi notes to any program, even on Linux. Also only MkII as of now for the same reasons as above. It's called LPMM on my GitHub.
@@TheNimaid I saw your LPMM on your github. I had considered converting the LP95 scripts over into lua a couple of years ago, but decided against it. (Python to lua is kind easy, but changing the context to Reason's device codec is a bit tougher.) I'll shoot you an email.
This is cool, would be great to play eve online with. I have a BEHRINGER CMD TOUCH TC64 which is a launchpad clone, I'll have to give it a try and see if it works with it.

Actually the TC64 looks like a Launchpad classic clone. That won't work juuuust yet, I still have to program alternate color palletes for that one. Since these clones are so cheap, I may grab one for myself to program for one day soon.

tried the portable version on windows 10... you can configure it.. it even changes colors on lp... but when you press buttons nothing happens...
