Pretty much any woman who screams, bad or good, will be very "loved" and "accepted" by the metal scene. It's one of the easiest genres to excel in if you're a woman. "OMG that a girl screamer?? Must do a reaction video and look blown away when she starts doing sone basic fry screaming"

I've always said this about her, whatever she decides to do she puts her whole self into it. Some might miss the detail but you can tell she's been working out, putting muscle on, to be able to give a better performance when she's doing some pretty demanding stuff vocally

I went to a Skynyrd/3 Doors Down concert and missed the opening act which was Daniel Powter, I thanked God for that. I would've literally killed myself if I missed someone like Poppy!

Nah. Talent is just what they call the edge someone has when they first get noticed (by whoever in whatever industry) by passively/indirectly learning relevant skills by chance. She's skilled. There was intention there.
She is really talented. I’m not always into her songs but I really appreciate the daring way that she combines pop, electronica, and metal. I say daring because these genres have elements that are antithetical to one another, and she makes no attempt to smooth it over, she just keeps all of that in.
I went from a grumbling father driving a group of kid fans 80 miles to see an 🙄"internet sensation" at a venue that barely held 180 fans to becoming a fan myself at 56. 🤘
I really enjoy Poppy her aesthetic, sound, etc. I just wish during her live shows the backing tracks were more clearly discerned from her live voice. I'll give her credit, it looks like she's really singing and sounds phenomenal. You can really hear her real voice on I Disagree for sure. What I'm specifically talking about can be easily seen at the end of Lessen the Damage.
The only other female rock vocalist in my life that ever gave me chills from their raw energy and realism is Amy Lee and now I can add Poppy right next to her.

@@ds698 I wouldn’t be so convinced as it sounds like the track is playing and she’s weakly singing the vocals you can literally hear her real voice every now and then and it’s quiet but sounds off tune . I love Poppy but I’m not fooled by the audio.
@@Celatrahealthy vocals are channeled through the diaphragm, big breaths in the upper chest means you’re forgetting to apply pressure to your core and will kill your vocal chords. Pressure on the neck is often a sign of strain, but can be okay at times. Poppy definitely has vocal backing tracks, but a singer looking relaxed does NOT mean that they’re lipsyncing lol. Even when the backing track is playing her lead vocal in some songs here, you can still hear her legitimately singing over it. I’m also not a fan of the new trend in live settings of singers basically just singing over their whole studio vocal, but Poppy has a lot of vocal layering in her tracks that her band obviously can’t replicate and I think it serves to add to her robotic, perfect aesthetic without being fake.

I hated Poppy when she first came out...then she ditched that Titanic Sinclair scumbag and completely rebranded herself into a Poppy/Metal hybrid thing and blew my freaking mind.
Bruh, Ive not had a crush on a celeb/musician in the past 20 years or so but I absolutely adore this insanely talented and creative being. Her ability to create art and music in any form she wants while also being unique by not boxing herself in with creative expression is what I admire most. I love the idea of not putting people in a defined category of what is expected or how to be and create things which speak to yourself first and allow people to enjoy your gift. I had not heard any music from Poppy until late last year. When I heard the song "Lowlife" I was hooked and was an instant favorite find on the list of new artists and songs Ive found recently. Then she worked with Bad Omens and took on one of my favorite sounds in heavy music with metalcore. And when Knocked Loose released "Suffocate" I was floored and felt fortunate to have found what she does at such a dope time to follow her work with the heavy sound and not have to catch up later in discovery. And the voice. Wow. Alright, Im done. I can feel the eyes rolling from everyone. I know. Hella glaze, and fanboy moment. But, like I said. Truly uncommon for me.
