- This album was a massive turning point for me. It seemed that with the return of Alex and Chucks recovery, the band matured like the finest wine and they were better than ever. The productions on this album and the ones following were absolutely crushing.
Can't wait for the new album later this year...

I thought after getting the JCM Studio you wont touch the DS20 again, glad you proved me wrong.
I’ve been on a huge Testament binge lately, this landed at the right time. Sounds epic mate, wish I had your ear for dialing tones 🤘
Wow I was just listening to this album as i saw this video released. Great album, amazing tone thanknyou so much!!
i would love to see a Dissection tone recreation! storm of lights bane has this amazing tone thats super tight yep still cold and icepick like that ive never heard a black metal band replicate!
Seconded
@lambchopper678 awesome. Could you do this with the Titans of Creation or Brotherhood of the Snake with the DSL20?
tones were very nice since marshalls arrived
"Henchmen Ride" is probably one of my top 10 favorite metal songs, but in a context of the guitars... the chugging, the solo. It absolutely fucking shreds.
Some day, I hope to nail that solo.
Lamb does it Again! Crushing as usual
Hell yeah one of my favourite albums need to get a DSL
Sounds mint mate.... I need to play my dsl20h more... Nice work on the testament riffs, one of my all time favourite bands 🤘
Great album
Testament
Death Angel
Exodus
Overkill
The real big four.
JCM is a lot warmer, right ? Less grainy 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
could you please do your magic on any nux amp? im a huge fan and it would be amazing to see what you could do on a nux mighty space or mighty air
Fuckin' awesome! I hope you get the studio Jubilee!
Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Great video as always, I ordered a Master Effects EQFH can't wait to get it
I know you’ve already gone over As the Palaces Burn from Lamb of God but I’d really appreciate it if you tried replicating the tone for it on anyone of the neural dsp amps. I’ve been trying to crack at it for a few weeks and can’t really get the right sound from it. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated
Interesting that that's the log tone you want to replicate lol. In my opinion that's probably their worst sounding album (guitar tone by itself isn't that bad tho).
What's with parrot? Has he lost some feathers?
He’s just going through a molt. They always look ratty halfway through
I just bought the dsl40cr combo, will I get the same tones from it as you do with the 20 watt head ? Or should I return combo and buy the 20 watt head and then buy a cab?
I’m a fan of closed back cabs as they project tight riffs way better than open backs but that dsl 40 is pretty good. See what you think. There’s pros and cons for both
Hey Lamb, really love these videos! Quick question regarding the DSL20HR. You've had it for awhile now, any issues with it? I have one on order for months now, and I'm just concerned about the build quality. I'm looking for hot rodded JCM800 tones and I believe this amp will do that and more.
Had it 7 years now and still goes hard and feels like new. No scratchy pots or anything
@LambChopper678 Thanks for the reply! Looking forward to getting the amp. Any chance of a video trying to dial in Andy LaRocque's tone from the Them album, or a Chris Oliva tone?
Awesome stuff!
Alex Skolnick is a great guitarist, but many don't know that the tones are usually decided by his partner in crime, so to speak, Eric Peterson (also a great guitarist).
I love my DSL20. Great for playing at home without shattering the windows and records well too.
I'm not familiar with the band, but having listened to the album just now, I think you got really close to the sound. The album version is maybe a touch more polished sounding due to a touch less mids, if I am hearing it correctly, but you got so close that the residual differences are pretty much negligible.
Great job! Thank you! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great video, Cheers
Great job man!
I missed the opportunity to see Testament with Black Dahlia due to the lockdowns and unfortuante with Trevor Strand's death. Testament is coming back to town this Oct and not even cancer is going to stop me from seeing them.
That's the right mindset dude 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻. Hope they come to Spain soon
How to play by ear solos
Great demo, whats in the pickups on your Dean ?
Thanks mate, the stock Mustaine Live Wires.
Mannn that tone is CRUSHING @lambchopper678 💪🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I think im gunna have to add a VMNT to my collection cause ive got a set of SD Thrash Factors in one of my Ibanez RG's and they rip thru my JVM but id really like to try the Live Wires and have a set of actives in one of my axes (im a "passive" PUP guy at heart haha)
They’re pretty different to other active pickups like EMG. I’d say they’re more like a JB with more boost. They do loose clarity on really distorted tones and I find they sound best sitting lower in the body like passives.
@LambChopper678 thanks for the feedback on the Live Wires mate 🤘🏻
Yeh ive never really warmed to the EMG's, well classic 81/85 combo (I don't hate them, just not my thing), even though I did put a set of the "HZ" passive EMG's in one of my guitars and enjoyed them immensely but I do think if the Live Wires are like a boosted JB like you say I think i'll really enjoy them 👌🏻
