- Load up on guns and bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's over bored and self assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word
Hello, hello, hello, how low? (x3)
Hello, hello, hello!
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mullato
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yay! (x3)
I'm worst at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
Hello, hello, hello, how low? (x3)
Hello, hello, hello!
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mullato
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yay! (x3)
And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it was hard to find
Oh, well, whatever, nevermind
Hello, hello, hello, how low? (x3)
Hello, hello, hello!
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mullato
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
A denial! (x9) Видеоклипы

One of the Best Rock Songs Ever Recorded in history
You can't be serious. They are nothing compared to the Beatles, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Queen etc.
@@nicolositonirvana is better than all of those
@nicolosito
Very serious.. those are all good bands and have a lot of the best songs as well.
They said ONE of the best songs ever written. Not THE best.
Plus it's all subjective. If is the best for them then it's the best. That's the beautiful thing about music. Individual interpretation.
Also.... This single handedly put an end to hair metal...so yes. One of the best rock songs eve

Hmmm well it wasnt like that.
This is not the same type of rock as the old ones.
Nirvana was a revolutionary 90s band.
Check Sweet child o mine that is the old style.

Agar ŦRIKΣR Well I like Nirvana better than Guns N’ Roses. But that’s just my opinion. Nobody’s opinion matters to no one. I used to work as a Bouncer at a Hip Hip nightclub in London back in the 90s. This was a black club which ONLY played black music, mostly consisting of Hip Hop, with small hints of black RnB and black 80s Soul. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN "BLAM!" this would explode onto the club's speakers and EVERYONE IN THE CLUB would explode and go crazy with excitement, happiness and awesome energy dancing like you wouldn't believe!!! It's quite a thing to see Hip Hop dancers dancing to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' in a Hip Hop Club but it works beautifully. The only non black song that was played! And also so appreciated! This song is so special and transcended not only music genres but also racial boundaries! It was so cool then and still is today, standing tall and proud 🤜🏾🤛🏻

Here we are today and this proves that.
Thank you Kurt. A part of my growing up in the early to mid 90's until your untimely passing, I felt I was as one with your music. Your words. Your passion and pain in your voice. Even as a kid then, I knew and could feel every note. The world lost such a gem when you died.
Decades later, look at the impact you still have and will keep having forever and ever.
Rest easy Kurt 🙏

Its pretty cool that all you kids are into Nirvana the way you are. Back then I didn't think it would turn out like that. He really had a way of inspiring that we kinda knew back then but didn't really think would last because he died and Nirvana was no more. Im glad he's still inspiring people the way he inspired me. I wish you all could know what it felt like back then to hear this song for the first time before he died. Its a feeling thats locked in time and will never be replicated, however im really glad it bled through to some extent. I will never forget that day and how it taught me about life, more about death, and what it means to have a soul as a little 13 year old rebellious kid. Hope it does the same for all of you. Just remember tho that he wasn't always right. There are better ways to live your life for sure and he wouldn't have wished his life on anyone. I remember when i first heard him scream "a denial" at the end and it still burns me to the core everytime i hear it 30 years later. It never goes away. Miss ya Kurt :)

This song broke so many chart records it's unbelievable how it did what it did when it happened. But looking back it makes perfect sense. From the Beatles, to Elvis, to Led Zeppelin, Nirvana not only topped the charts but dwarfed every other artists and bands that came before it, that went with it and those that came after. It's truly remarkable and they did it all with a completely different genre.

@Russ Gallagher I see a lot of meaning in this song. One of the most impactful songs I've ever heard. It's hard to understand but you have to think about it a certain way.
@@rrsidentfrickhoe exaactlyy
@Russ Gallagher Jesus dude, he was making a joke about the seemingly random, and meaningless lyrics. Chill the fuck out.
@Russ Gallagher the song and lyrics aren't that significant in itself, but the song captured the tone of the time: decaying suburbia, confused, rambling, growing up in a stark socially-distant fragmented culture, newly nihilistic leanings, coming-of-age and loss of innocence. It's more about how it felt like at the time to be a young person becoming an adult in a slowly crumbling America.
@Russ Gallagher for a growing class of "was middle class" as the industrial base was shipped off to China, there was a distinct undertow of misery coming from the lower-middle class as they had to reduce their once nearly guaranteed income, a lower middle-class of which Kurt was a member and put a voice and tone to the sound that well expressed the sentiment. Hollow loss of the American dream for the ones who believed it most.
Everything he’s singing has to do with social media. Kurt knew
I came on here to look through the comments and see if anyone thought the same thing!!! I can definitely relate that it’s how I feel about social media & why I am not on it! Kurt was ahead of his time

The lyrics make complete sense. I dont get why people don't understand it.
"Load up on guns bring your friends it's fun to lose and to pretend." - Setting the scene for a teenage party, full of pretence and edginess.
"Oh no I know a dirty word." - More edginess and teenage naughtiness.
"hello, hello, how low." - Saying hello to everyone, like you do when you're a teenager, trying to be friends with everyone, how low will you go to be popular?
"With the lights out it's less dangerous." - Teenage edginess and rule breaking, the discovery of the darkness, sex, drugs and rock n roll, as you do when you're a teenager.
"Here we are now, entertain us." - Sarcastic demand for 'entertainment', Kurt criticising and commenting on youth pop culture's laziness and constant, infant-like, need for entertainment.
"I feel stupid and contagious." - 'Stupid' because teens are fed a diet of pop culture and hollywood, contagious because of STDs, hormones, drugs and promiscuity.
"Our little group has always been and always will until the end." - This is the most obvious sign that this song is about teenagers states of mind and teenage conformity to the group, how when you're a teenager the most important thing is your peer group.
"And I forget just why I taste, oh yeah I guess it makes me smile, I find it hard, hard to find, oh well, whatever, never mind." - Tasting drugs, sex and the verse degenerates into a drugged up stupour.
"Smells like teen spirit" - Hugely sarcastic, self-referring title. This angry, rebellious rock song that makes teenagers go wild literally 'smells like teen spirit' (with a roll of the eyes). This song is obviously mocking / commenting on teenage rebellion culture, who think that they are special / rebels by taking drugs and listening to rock and roll but actually they are just conforming to 'rebel' culture which has been given to them by the music industry, who sell them rebel icons (like Nirvana).
