Growing up in Az we did not have speakers in school to inspire us to be nurses or even think about a healthcare career in our futures. Hi!! I love your videos! I'm taking prerequisites right now but I'm having such a hard time trying to transfer into a nursing program. I decided to do nursing a bit later in high school. I used to think "oh I would never do nursing" and "I could never do that" but once I started working in a hospital and saw what nurses did I knew I wanted to be one. It is amazing what nurses do every day, how they deal with tough situations, how passionate they are, etc. after a few months into my job I knew I wanted to help people like they do. I've always wanted to help people but I was never sure how. I love watching your videos because you give great advice and you are so inspiring!
I'm a junior right now in nursing school and when you said you only handle two patients at a time right now that sounded so nice lol. Even though it's ICU and much more intense, I'm overwhelmed with the thought of juggling more than two patients (at least in clinicals!) Great presentation Ashley, thank you for all that you share with us!!

I am currently studying psychology at my college (unfortunately we don't have a nursing school anymore) and I plan on going straight into a MSN program to become a nurse practitioner. You have definitely increased my interests in working in the ICU. Thank you for being such a strong and caring person in what you do!!

I've been feeling so discouraged because our first baby is due in September which further pushes back me being able to finish my prereqs and apply for/start nursing school. I was starting to doubt whether or not nursing is for me but hear how you talked about it reminded me that it is EXACTLY what I want to do with my future. thanks girl
It's awesome hearing your story because mine is similar. My husband is in the navy and I am about to start nursing school. My husband and I are both from AZ but we live in VA right now where he is stationed. A couple of my families work for Banner too! :) I love your videos! Very helpful!
I wish I had some more nursing friends. This was awesome to see. I’m a resident (PGY3) and to this day, I can tell you the assessment and plan, interpret labs, this that but I still barely know how the IV pole and the bags work. I don’t know what the clips on it man. I don’t know what to do when it says occluded. We don’t learn that in medical school and I feel like sometimes nurses might think I’m a total idiot for not knowing what a first year nursing student I bet knows lol. We just don’t learn it. How do you recommend like learning some of this? I want to feel comfortable at the bedside. Not just interpreting brain MRIs, etc. I wish nurses would realize that we don’t learn some of this stuff and that it’s okay to ask; I think sometimes we get judged for not knowing things nursing related. :/ awesome video. Ashley, I love your videos. I'm current working as a CNA. I've tried taking PAX RN entrance test three times but didn't get accepted. This journey has been so difficult for me because English is not my first language. Sometime, I felt disrepair and kept asking myself if I get in would be able to pass the classes since it's so challenging.

This was a great presentation! I would've been stammering over my words. 😞 I just have a question, I'm trying to go back to school for nursing and I am having the hardest time finding scholarships for 2nd degrees. Does anyone have any advice?
I was always so interested in the medical field, and I want to get there and experience may situations as I can, but the problem with me is I doubt myself alot, I freak out, and I make amount of errors. My mind just goes blank :( it's the worse feeling ever.. so my question is how did you build that confidence and not freak out during emergency situations? love your vid c:

paco cast maybe you can be an rn who works in psych
paco cast Psychiatric nurse practitioners in an outpatient setting have very, very similar duties as a psychiatrist.
