This is why I prefer steel gas stove no matter what the trend is. If you clean hot glass stove with wet cloth to clean food spill, then over time the glass cracks. This is what an appliance store owner had said. We have a habit of cleaning as we cook.

It has happened with Glen glass cooktop at my parent's house. My mother used to forcely place vessels on the cook top. That too heavy. What I have understood from Prestige people is that never use water to swipe the glass when it is even slightly warm. The glass gets thin. Wait even if hot milk or curry falls on the top. Even if a small thinning happens when you light the gas it will burst. When the lady was washing utensils and stiring the curry a drop of water from her hand fallen on the top can also result in the huge disaster

We are also very confused about glass hob, looked many options and seen many videos on youtube with same incident, so finally decided to go with steel hob there are 2 good companies kaff and bosch they have good range of steel hobs. Hope u are safe, don't know what's the reason behind tempered glass got burst, as its 8mm toughened glass which doesn't break easily. Ur hob might be under warranty which will be replaced by the company.

May be on glass might have wiped with wet cloth on glass top so when it cools u must wipe not on hot hob so take care

I've been using a glass hob when I'm in the States but when I went to purchase a glass hob for my vacation home in pakistan, the sales rep said that he doesn't recommend it because of this reason. I disregarded what he said and I bought it and have been using it for a year, after seeing this I'm reconsidering replacing it. Thank God, you all are safe. Literally, my heart dropped, Reema.

Dear mam the glass hob breaks only when very hot utensils are kept in it like tava or pan.
Might be ur aunty have kept tava tow three times while making rotis othervise there is no chance for hob to crack becoz we not not live in extreme seasonal conditions.
Especially kaif is a reputated brand and it cannot happen unless it it forced with extreme temperatures. Take care

They immediately replaced it with regular gas stove. These glass hob only look good in TV not reliable in real life.

pigeon company asked blamed us back and asked for the money for glass replacement.
Whole glass burner costed me 4000. and the company asked for Rs. 3000 for replacement.
There was no point replacing the glass.

We should never keep hot vessels on glass base of cooktop or even hot spatulas or spoons, and cold water should not spill on hot glass. Aisa kuch hua hoga tabhi glass break hua h, we need to b very careful while using glass cooktop
