Mike, I’m a 55-year-old grandmother dyke and my partner of 25+ yrs and I watch your videos with popcorn like we were watching GoT or something. I found your videos by accident, and was instantly hooked - simply fascinating and inspiring. While I know zero about planes and the only planes I have been in are large commercial planes I took to travel the world when I was younger/college, you make this stuff accessible, interesting and again, inspiring. While I know making videos is just one of the things you do (and I can’t believe how much you do, its crazy), I would like to request, as a fan, some videos of how the “Best Tugs” came about, from beginning to a product you sell. I have really enjoyed watching you go through the modifications you have done to Draco and look forward to seeing the same for Scrappy. Seeing all the fun that you have flying has got me thinking of getting my pilots license, thanks for sharing with us.
You and Trent Palmer got me interested in aviation. I have always been interested but Trent showed me that it is obtainable with hard work and you don't have to be rich. You continue to show us what is obtainable with no limits. They are both great ways to fly.
For awhile now I've been toying with the idea of building an aircraft, and I've been making or modifying plans. After seeing you do all of this I might take the dive in.
I love it. I'm so hooked. The way you put in the old footage in the video way awesome. I hope to see more editing like that. I'm super excited to see more videos on your progress and defiantly want to see Scrappy some day!
As an ex airline jock, I thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through your exploits. I am so Invigorated by your enthusiasm, energy and your various projects, I'm glad that you escaped unhurt after the Draco mishap. Good luck and stay safe.
My love for aviation started when I was just a little child over 20 years ago flying for the first time in a Cessna 180 on floats. Now 20 years later, I have my Airframe license, and just passed my Powerplant written, working on my FCC. Then hopefully in the years to come to get my pilots license, run a GA friendly maintenance hangar, and own the Cessna 180 that started my passion over 20 years ago! You have been an amazing inspiration for me, and many others!
This is cooler than the Waco biplane with the jet engine strapped to the bottom.... GO Mike !! Can not wait to see your progress and don’t be afraid to bore us with detail!
Right now I am extremely excited. You always knock your projects out of the park so much enignerding that most of us can not compete. I am a machinist myself and I still can't believe what it takes to modify a Wilga, and knowing how to make an engine like that. I might transition myself over there for more machining and fabrication knowledge.
I am super pumped to watch this plane come together. I love your enthusiasm and motivation. Always wanted to fly. I finally retired and now I’m gonna try to fulfill my dream. It all got fire back up watching STOL and seeing Draco at Osh Kosh. Thanks for the boost.

Best tugs is his company and tug is a machine/ device to pull vehicles, in this case airplanes while on the ground
A tug is a device used to tow an airplane.
It would been an awesome sleeper. But the sound the sweet sound gonna give it away. Love your work Mr. Patey!

Mike, I am not a pilot but got started watching your videos because of Draco catching my eye. I have really enjoyed watching you go through the modifications you have done to Draco and look forward to seeing the same for Scrappy. Seeing all the fun that you have flying has got me thinking of getting my pilots license, thanks for sharing with us.
In before this damn things more powerful than god damn draco
Mike I built my 200mph RC Turbine Jet while watching your videos. Really inspired me to keep going and be bold with new ideas. Thanks!
Awesome! Just don't go killing yourself while flying in it. Thanks, Mike. Looking forward to seeing it built and working.
Your enthusiasm is exceeded only by your bank balance!! Amazing to watch you do this.
I am super pumped to watch this plane come together. I love your enthusiasm and motivation. Always wanted to fly. I finally retired and now I’m gonna try to fulfill my dream. It all got fire back up watching STOL and seeing Draco at Osh Kosh. Thanks for the boost.
Mike you are absolutely insane! As soon as you pulled the cover off I knew exactly what engine that was and just started laughing. You never cease to amaze me. Keep up the videos. You are truly an inspiration not only in aviation but in engineering.
Oh my God !!!!! Im so glad this video came up on my You Tube Feed . I have been following the build but never seen the beginning , Patey your the man !!!
I’m hooked on your video’s. You are such a amazing talented man with such a zest for life. Looking forward to what you do with scrappy. Thanks for bringing us along for such a fascinating ride.
Mike, I just love your enthusiasm. Can't wait to see Scrappy fly !
I don't watch airplane videos or builds on RUclips at all, but when it's Mike Patey....you simply cannot miss his exploits and ingenuity!
I love your innovation. It really drives the General Aviation to new possibilities. Please don’t stop.
Mike, your almost childlike enthusiasm is awesome! It's almost if someone were to say... "That much power in a Super Cub wouldn't be a good idea or even possible"... you'd be "Here, Hold my McValue Soda and watch this!!"
I admit I'm envious of your knowledge and financial ability to do these projects but THANK YOU so much for sharing them with us to at least enjoy the journey with you.
please stay safe the world needs people like you. crazy and off the hook fun love it
I don't know about scrappy, but I can tell you for sure, that YOU Mike and your ideas make me dream of aviation more than anything else. You have got to be the most driven and passionate person in aviation that I have ever heard of. Kudo's to you my friend. I am sure scrappy will be simply awesome! I need 10% of your drive and determination and another 10% of your inspiration and I could probably just finish my rv7 project. Ha
The passion you put into your projects is admirable...
Blown away!!!!! I can hardly wait to see how you do your weight and Ballance and where the CG ends up at !? Wow!! Thanks Mike I'm looking forward to seeing this thing fly ... Ed in Phoenix writes
Mike, other than Jesus, you are probably my biggest inspiration. When I can afford to get my pilots license I am going to do some crazy things. Right now we are saving for land but I can not wait to fly. Can’t wait to see more scrappy builds!
It was great meeting you in Oshkosh on Tuesday. Thanks for explaining the leading edge addition in relation to the wing tip protection bar. Hope you guys had a great time up there.
Your NUTS.. in a great way .. your enthusiasm is intoxicating! Cant wait for more... stol comp look out scrapy is coming!!!👍
Mike ... thanks for your enthusiastic videos and inspiring words for the next gen of aviators to go bold and think big.
