is the rejection rate high only due to people doing dunki or are there other reasons as well ?

Our Schengen visas have been rejected too. Why are they not refunding the visa fees if they dont want Indian tourists in their country? They should issue a notice 'No Visa for Indian Tourists' , then we will not take the trouble to comply with all the requirements.

    Europe has reasons to worry.
Some tourists/ students do not come back and stay back illegally.

Much of this is one sided rant with many factual inaccuracies.
Visa related hardship could be avoided with proper planning-particularly to accommodate possible delays in visa processing. For a trip to Spain and Portugal in the month of April this year I applied to Spanish Embassy for a multiple entry Schengen visa 4 months in advance. And I got a multiple entry 180-day visa in 3 weeks. The policy on long-term visa to be given only to frequent travellers is a correct policy-what would a traveller do with a 2 year visa if he/she did not travel to Europe at least twice in the previous 3 years?
While most Indians are legitimate travellers-our country also figures among the nations from which human traffickers sent a large number of illegal immigrants-hence most western countries require a transit visa for Indians even to transit through their countries.
If a visa application is rejected-there ought to be a reason that is not in harmony with the concerned embassy’s eligibility requirements.
Air-ticket cancellation fees could be avoided by booking fully flex ticket and cancel the same if the visa is rejected for full refund. If visa is issued than one could always replace the flexi ticket with a cheaper ticket-this could be done profitably by putting visa application 4 to 5 months in advance. The other option is to work through a travel agent and they could arrange dummy tickets.
It is also possible to make no cancellation fee hotel bookings on most hotel booking sites. A smart traveller plans several months in advance and apply for a visa and make other arrangements.

We have to stand in line to get a visa for most of the countries. Even for a tourist visa. And the news says our Indian passport is getting stronger. No fortitude from our govt. to build up soft power.

As a European I can completely understand this frustration. India is a very strategic trading partner of the EU, and Indians are very professional to work with. The mass migration from problematic countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco, etc., has not made the visa process easy for other well-intentioned people, and that is very unfair. Not to mention that in certain EU countries, extreme right governments have come to power, such as in Italy and the Netherlands, and this trend is also significant in France. Nevertheless, the rules are determined by the European Parliament itself, which is led by the Christian Democrats. Lucky they are in favor of progress and will extend a hand to strategic trading partners like India. There should be a relaxation of the rules for Indians in general. I don't really understand this whole procedure? And asking such a high visa fee of 90 EUR?

can i ask you something though ?
I have heard this from many people that because afghans, pakistanis, bangladeshis and indians look alike, a lot of their problematic views gets painted on indians aswell. portugal has started to become more and more raccist to indians
looking at economic slowdown of west, obviously you need indians to help it as china ain't helping EU anyways.
USA has learned that quickly and are opening new embassies and granting more visas
but does a common european understands this dilemma or they are just blindly with the far right ?
